Healthy dessert recipes

If you thing desserts can’t be healthy, think again. These healthy dessert recipes use no flour, no heavy cream, little sugar which of course can be replaced. Watch the video below to know all about them.

These are not just healthy dessert recipes – they are also no bake desserts that can be enjoyed rather conveniently. I do enjoy baking, but sometimes I really don’t feel like getting my hands dirty with flour and other ingredients. So these desserts are perfect for those days.

What makes dessert unhealthy? Apart from obnoxious amount of sugar, desserts can also have maida or all purpose flour, corn flour in some cases or too much dairy which may not be suitable to everyone. Using ingredients like nut butters (almond butter / peanut butter), frozen fruit, cereal, dry fruits etc. we can make our indulgences more reasonable.

So which of these healthy dessert recipes are you trying today 🙂 I’d definitely recommend the Banana Chocolate Nice Cream and the Peanut Butter cups. I’m sure you and / or your kids would enjoy these. And of course these are my favorites too.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookies in a Pan

peanut butter chocolate cookies
Make these delicious Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookies in a pan!

In this video, I’m sharing a recipe for Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookies, made without  an oven. Watch the video to understand how I made these in a pan.

Subscribe to my Youtube channel here

Im making these with chocolate but if you prefer plain ones, then skip the cocoa altogether. Either way your going to need peanut butter, Using about half a cup of it here. then we have a quarter cup of cocoa powder. a spoon of vanilla extract. a heaped table spoon of regular butter, one and half cup of whole wheat flour, half a cup of powdered sugar and a tea spoon of baking soda and 3/4th cup of milk. and here we have all the ingredients ready. you can even replace the whole wheat flour with maida here. so first throwing in the butter. and the sugar next. and mixing these two. it helps if the butter is a little softened already. And I’m using Amul butter. if you can then use unsalted or you can even use ghee. and now this is mixed and ill be adding the peanut butter in. And now mixing it as well. Once this is mixed in nicely im adding the  vanilla extract and mixing it well. And then goes in the flour and the cocoa powder. And also the baking soda and mix all these together. Then add milk and finally i go in with my hands and this is the dough here ready . Then this goes in the fridge for about 20 minutes. and in the meantime, preheat the pan so this is a nonstick pan and im brushing it with oil and using a wrapping paper and lining it – you can use butter paper or parchment paper. And putting the lid of and letting this heat up on a low flame for about 15 minutes. Now the cookies can be rolled into these balls and flattened slightly. I’m not making these too big since i want them to get cooked evenly. and then we just place them in the pan. I’m also topping them with some chocolate chunks- this is just chopped up dark chocolate. These get ready in about 20-25 minutes.

Coffee Chocolate Cake
Coffee Chocolate Cake without eggs or oven – POSSIBLE?

Of course! Here is a delicious coffee chocolate cake recipe. Its made in a pan, does not use eggs or condensed milk or cream and is really simple! Also watch the full video for a delicious Mocha Buttercream frosting to complete this coffee chocolate cake.

This Coffee Chocolate Cake is just so spongy by itself and with this Mocha Buttercream Frosting, its even more delicious! And I  made this without oven or eggs. I love the combination of coffee and chocolate together – firstly both taste so good and secondly its just such a comforting combination.

Coffee Chocolate Cake

Coffee Chocolate Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup yoghurt / curd / dahi

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

3/4th cup powdered sugar

1/2 cup vegetable oil

2 teaspoons instant coffee

1 teaspooon cocoa powder

pinch of cinnamon

1 1/2 cup of all purpose flour / maida

1 teaspoon baking powder

First mix the yoghurt and baking soda together in a big bowl and keep it aside. This mixture will rise. Then take powdered sugar and vegetable oil and mix it together. Then take coffee, cocoa and cinnamon and add some hot water and make it into a liquid consistency and add this to the sugar and oil mixture. Then sieve maida and baking powder together and add it to the sugar, coffee and oil mixture. And finally add the yoghurt mixture in as well. Mix it enough gently to only remove lumps and then grease a nonstick pan and let this cook for about 45 minutes to an hour. You need to place another pan underneath the cake pan so it doesn’t get heat directly.

Mocha Buttercream Frosting recipe

Coffee Chocolate Cake

Taking about one and a half tablespoon of instant cofeee and adding really hot water and mixing it so that the coffee granules completely dissolve in it. Next using regular salted butter / Amul butter and adding it to the coffee mixture. Next add 1 table spoon of cocoa powder and about 4 table spoons of powdered sugar and a few drops of vanilla extract. And just mixing everything together. Blend it well, you can even use a hand blender or electric beater and then this is ready.

This recipe is quite easy and with minimal prep you can get a coffee chocolate cake ready. Do try it and let me know how it works for you.

The Junction Matunga | Best Pancakes, Waffles, Shakes in Mumbai

Junction Matunga
Early this year The Junction Matunga opened its doors to serve the best waffles, pancakes and shakes.

Junction Matunga

Satisfy your sweet tooth at The Junction Matunga.

My recent visit there left me wanting to go back! I tried a whole bunch of things from their menu and loved most of them. Here’s what I tried at The Junction.

Pancakes

Junction Matunga

Red Velvet Bazooka

Junction Matunga

I’ve never been one to love Pancakes – until I tried the Red Velvet Bazooka at The Junction. So fluffy and so indulgent! These are red velvet pancakes topped up with an over generous amount of nutella and white chocolate. You can even request for some additional toppings. One portion serves served 10 mini pancakes and should cost approximately Rs.150.

The Godfather

Junction Matunga

Now this is exactly as the name suggests – EPIC! These pancakes are topped with nutella, dark and white chocolate sauce, chocolate chips, chocolate crisps and anything else that you want! Not only do these look so good, but they are also sinfully delicious. One portion serves served 10 mini pancakes and should cost approximately Rs.180.

Waffles

Junction Matunga

Valentines

Junction Matunga

These are the cutest waffles I’ve seen – red hearts topped with whopped cream and chocolate sauce. And such a good size. Their waffles are neither too crunchy nor too spongy. These would cost you Rs.180 and you get 2 heart shaped waffles in a serving.

Dark & White

Junction Matunga

This is a regular waffles but with a combination of white and dark chocolate and it is topped with white chocolate chips. I found their waffles to be slightly bigger than the other places serving waffles in the city. This costs you Rs.120.

Shakes

Junction Matunga

Popcorn

Junction Matunga

This is like drinking popcorn – the exact feel of munching popcorn is what you get with just 1 sip of the Popcorn shake at The Junction. And honestly, the flavor is kinda addictive. One bottle of this will cost you Rs.150.

Strawberry Cookie

Junction Matunga

Strawberry and cookies is quite an underrated combination. When I tried this milkshake here I was totally in love with the tarty strawberry flavour and the feel and flavor of a chocolate cookie with it. This costs Rs.150 and you absolutely must try it.

Judwaa

Junction Matunga

When Hazelnut, Chocolate and Nutella come together, it feels like this shake. Definitely a must try for anyone who loves that hazelnut flavor. This one will cost you Rs.150.

The Junction Matunga spells value for money for me. Generous toppings, so much variety, good flavors – they have it all going on. So if you feel like indulging on a budget then this is the place for you. They also have something called Bombay 21 in which you get 2 heart shaped waffles, 1 milkshake and 6 pancakes and all of this for Rs.360. It’s a very good deal if you are going in a group and want to try multiple things.

Sunday Brunch at The JW SAHAR Mumbai

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch
I’ve been to JW Sahar on multiple occasions; but this time was special as I was visiting them for their Sunday Brunch.

JW Sahar is known to have one of the best (and also the priciest) Sunday Brunches in the city. It starts at Rs.2700+ and the various pricing options include mocktails, alcohol and champagne respectively.

To give you a glimpse of the whole brunch buffet, I have this video. Do watch it and subscribe to my Youtube channel for more video content.

Subscribe to my Youtube channel here

Out of all the delicious food at the brunch, here are a few things that I tried and loved.

Chaat

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch

The brunch has an entire section dedicated to chaat and you will find so many different things – Palak Patta Chaat, Samosa, Dabeli, Ragda Pattice, Pani Puri, Dahi Papdi and lots more. If you love chaat then definitely indulge!

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch

Pasta

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch

Pick and choose your sauce and veggies or ask a special recommendation from the Chef – the Pasta at JW Sahar doesn’t disappoint. Since this brunch happened to be a Thanksgiving themed one, I got to try their Pumpkin Ravioli. The feel of butter in this was just out of this world. I also indulged in the classic Arrabiata and it was the perfect tangy flavor.

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch

Tex Mex

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch

I love my tex mex so I indulged in some nachos and also some Quesadilla.

Indian Main Course

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch

The one thing that stood out for me in the main course was their Dal Makhani. This was the first time I actually tried it and boy was it good! Creamy, flavorful and very comforting. I also tried the Chhole, Biryani and the Papad variety.

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch

If you saw the video, then you’d know that the brunch is massive. Apart from the food mentioned above, you also find a whole section dedicated to Cheese, greens and fresh salad, sushi and Japanese cuisine, Thai food, cold-cuts, sea food and lots more.

But the section that completely stole my heart was the Dessert.

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch

You can see the huge variety in this section right from the time you enter JW Cafe. And it’s honestly so beautifully arranged and presented that a part of you would definitely want to pick something up right away. Liqueur filled chocolate bars, cakes, pastries, Indian mithai variety – you will find all of this here! It’s such a massive spread. And it’s not just the quantity of dessert; it’s also the presentation. I mean I’ve seen some of the prettiest looking cupcakes here.

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch

Even the Waffle and Pancake station is such a hit. They are undoubtedly one of the best waffles you will find in the city. And you choose an array of toppings – sauces, fruits, sprinkles, brownies, fruit syrups and what not. Enjoy these plain or with some ice cream to finish off a super lavish meal.

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch

So that was it from my visit to the JW Sahar Sunday Brunch. Definitely visit and share your experience with me. And do keep extra room for dessert!

Mango Specials at Sin Marine Plaza

Sin Marine plaza mango menu specials
Head over to Sin Marine Plaza to bid adieu to the king of fruits; albeit quite lavishly!

Sin Marine plaza Mango Menu

Sin Marine Plaza is serving some Mango Specials that you should definitely get your hands on.

These cost about Rs.375 per serving. And you can find a variety of dishes. I did try out some of the mango specials at Sin Marine Plaza and also liked a few of them. Here is what I tried.

Aam Ka Panna

Sin Marine plaza aam panna

Refreshing, especially in this heat. This is one good aam panna!

Baked Mango Cheese Cake

Sin Marine plaza mango cheese cake

Cheese cake with the goodness of Mango. I quite like the amalgamation of Mascarpone cheese with the sweet and sour flavor from the fruit,

Mango Chocolate Sensation

Sin Marine plaza mango chocolate sensation

A chocolate ball with Mango in it. Hot chocolate sauce is poured on this and watching the ball melt is a delight in itself! And so is eating it. However, for me chocolate and mango as a combination don’t really go.

Mango and Mint Pannacotta

Sin Marine plaza mint mango pannacotta

I didn’t think I’d like this combination, but it was really interesting. Mango custard with hints of mint all around – mostly in the form of mint caviar.

Mango Baklava

Sin Marine plaza mango baklava

This baklava was amazing. And I quite liked the addition of mango in it.

Mango Raspberry Criollo

Sin Marine plaza mango raspberry criollo

Mango in a mousse kinda texture, with a hint of raspberry and loads of white chocolate. This was actually really good. And it didn’t even feel that heavy.

Apart from these, Sin Marine Plaza even has Mango Shake, Mango with Whipped Cream and Ice Cream and also Aamras, served with puris. If you want to get your hands on some Mango-based dessert, I suggest you head right over to Sin Marine Plaza and try these out. And you will definitely find your pick.

Black Dessert now in Mumbai

Icekraft Waffles

My love for dessert took me to Icekraft once again. Honestly, this time it was more curiosity than love.

The Team at Icekraft said that they were introducing Black Dessert – Black Ice Cream and Black Waffles and I just really wanted to try it. So I went there and filmed this video of me trying out Black Dessert. Watch it and I hope you enjoy it.

Like this video? Subscribe to my YouTube here

I hope you enjoyed watching this video from my trip to Icekraft.

So let’s take a look at what I had, once again.

Firstly, BLACK ICE CREAM!

This ice cream tastes as gorgeous as it looks. Somehow, I never associate Black with dessert, but thanks to Icekraft, my opinion stands changed. This tasted amazing – chocolate, fresh cream – I mean what’s not to like!

And then there were these black waffles – which were absolutely delicious too. These felt like a little dark chocolate mixed with orange. I love that combination!

So do you need to worry about the Black in Black Ice Cream – like what is it? Is it safe for consumption? Is it color? So the simple answer to all of this is NO. You don’t need to worry. The Black in Black ice cream is actually activated charcoal. And Activated Charcoal has so many health benefits. Here’s listing a few:

  • Reduces Gas and Bloating
  • Helps alleviate alcohol poisoning and cures hangovers
  • Get’s rid of toxins in the body
  • It’s an all round digestive cleanser

So, now that you are assured that Black Ice Cream is all good, definitely go and indulge yourself in the ones available at Icekraft.

I hope you enjoyed watching the video and reading about everything I ate. What is the weirdest Ice Cream you have eaten? Let me know below!

Also if you want me to review any particular places in the city, then let me know and I will try and visit them for you.

XOXO

Shweta!
