VINOD Intelligent Cookware with FBAI

VINOD INTELLIGENT COOKWARE
Recently the FBAI & VINOD Intelligent Cookware got a few bloggers together over a fun Sunday Brunch at Veranda, Bandra.

VINOD Intelligent Cookware has a new range and it aims to preserve the nutrition of any food item. So all the fitness and health enthusiasts, this ones for us!

Right from bottles and sippers to literally in intuitive toaster, the new range by VINOD Intelligent Cookware has everything.

VINOD INTELLIGENT COOKWARE

  • I got my hands on the Zest Induct Cookware by them and it’s brilliant!
  • A 3 Layer non-stick coating. So no more worrying of the coating wearing off in no time! And this also means that you can use even lesser oil while cooking.
  • Extra aluminium to hold the ceramic coating and this also ensures that it uses less gas while cooking.
  • It’s metal spoon friendly – so no more separate spatula needed.
  • PFOA Free so no toxic fumes while you keep it on high flame.
  • You can even use it on an induction stove.
  • And a 12 month guarantee!

Since this was an FBAI event, there had to be a fun element to it – so we had a hoola-hoop session, a ‘who can do the most push-ups’ competition and we also carved out some fitness goals. All this with the delicious food at Veranda Bandra 🙂

An all Apple dinner at Theory Mumbai

Theory Mumbai
Very recently, the FBAI got us to try out an all Apple menu at Theory Mumbai.

It was so interesting to see the special preparations done by the Chef of Theory Mumbai, to incorporate apples for a sit down, 4 course dinner.

Theory Mumbai

The US Apple Commission represents America’s finest apple produce, from various states. Apples are known for their health and nutritional benefits and I was super excited to try out a meal that was done with Apples as the primary ingredient.

So here the special Apple menu, that I had at Theory Mumbai.

Sangria

This had to be a first! Sangria did set the right tone for the evening.

Apple and Cinnamon Sparkler

Theory Mumbai

This felt like apple and probable more fruit juice, with a hint of cinnamon.

Poached Apple with Goat Cheese

Theory Mumbai

A salad with poached apples and a drizzle of red wine reduction. And some greens and goat cheese. It was really sumptuous.

Curried Carrot and Apple Soup

Theory Mumbai

Warm, thick and comforting. The soup had a nice consistency and was actually really flavorful.

Apple Gnocchi with Butternut Squash and Sage Butter

Theory Mumbai

Quite an interesting flavor.

Apple Cheese Cake

Theory Mumbai

The cheese cake was good, but the burnt butter ice cream with it was even better.

Apple Baklava

Theory Mumbai

It wasn’t shaped exactly like Baklava. And honestly, I didn’t care for this much. However, the vanilla ice cream with this, again was really top notch.

All in all, I was pretty impressed with the Apple-oriented dinner. It was amazing to see the kind of things the staff at Theory Mumbai came up with. And a lot of them were actually quite delicious. And of course, FBAI events are always a lot of fun.

Theory Mumbai

Thank you so much for reading and stay tuned for my next post. XOXO!

New Menu at LIMA BKC

LIMA BKC
Sometime in February, I checked out the new menu at LIMA BKC. For those of you who aren’t aware, LIMA is a South American restaurant in Bandra Kurla Complex and serves specifically, Peruvian food. Trying authentic Peruvian food was a unique experience in itself, given that it was pretty much the first time for me.

LIMA BKC

The interiors are beautifully done at LIMA BKC and at night, it can turn into a nice cozy set up. Dim lights, a fancy bar and the ambience totally worked for me.

LIMA BKC

Coming to the food, here’s what I tried at LIMA BKC

LIMA BKC

I started with this Grape Drink which was such a beautiful purple color. It was amazingly sweet and a tiny bit bitter just like black grapes are. I also feel it had some kiwi in it. I enjoyed it.

I also gorged on their Tacos which were delicious. They were served with 3 very interesting dips – a salsa sauce made from Green Tomatoes, a regular Tomato salsa and some sour cream.

LIMA BKC

LIMA BKC

Next I had this Butter and Corn Zuppa, which felt like a warm and soothing, yet tasty corn broth. I quite enjoyed this.

LIMA BKC

Another dish that I thoroughly was the Green Peas and Potato Quesadilla. These are made from refined flour and the the filling has a prominent taste. This is further enhance with the cheese that feels wonderful.

LIMA BKC

Next I had something like a corn and cheese spring roll and this was called the Chimi Changa.

LIMA BKC

I also tried their Sweet Potato Gratin. It had an extremely overpowering sour taste which I didn’t quite enjoy.

But something that I did enjoy was the Bean stew and Mexican Rice. It was rice with beans in a tomato gravy.

And this was followed by something called Chilaquiles which was a baked Mexican dish. This too was tomato based and had beans and cheese. I love this combination!

LIMA BKC

Finally it was time for some dessert; so I started with something very familiar looking. This was something called After 9 – a chocolate and mint pastry. This was thick and dense, and the flavor of mint was spot on. However I did find it a tad bit chewy. This is the same After 9 that you get at Theobroma – however I am not sure if there is any relation between the two!

LIMA BKC

I also tried the Blue Berry Cheesecake which was really good.

LIMA BKC

So all in all, LIMA BKC was a pretty interesting experience for me. It was fun trying out this kind of cuisine for the first time. Also since this was an FBAI Soiree, I was in the company of so many fellow foodies and that made the evening even more enjoyable!

LIMA BKC

I hope you enjoyed reading this. Do visit LIMA BKC for a fancy yet interesting South American dining experience. Stay tuned for my next post.

FBAI Soiree at Cafe Mojo

FBAI Soiree
The FBAI Soiree is an event where foodies from all  over the city get together for a rather chilled out evening. Of course, it is but natural for us to be clicking away to glory; but the sheer number of people you meet at this event makes it so special. This is my first FBAI Soiree and I definitely think that these kind of meet-ups go a long way in shaping the ever-growing food community. So kudos to the entire FBAI team for that.

img_5412

The FBAI Soiree was held at Cafe Mojo – new restaurant located in Mahakali, Andheri (E). Cafe Mojo did turn out to be the perfect venue – because of the sheer number of people, the place needed to be pretty spacious and accommodating. They have an indoor bar area, a small outdoor dinner area and a spacious rooftop kinda area with sheesha as well.

img_5407

I ended up sampling a few of the vegetarian dishes while I was here and these were pretty good. Here’s what I tried:

3C

FBAI Soiree

These were Chilly Cheese Corn balls. Not the melt in your mouth variety but felt pretty wholesome. I ate way too many of these!

Grilled Pineapple

FBAI Soiree

I absolutely love grilled pineapple – the sweet and slightly sour pineapple flavor in a spicy kinda, Indian sauce.

Vegetarian Pizza

FBAI Soiree

These were mini pizza slices with capsicum, bell pepper, onion and loads of cheese, of course. And they had some really strong pepper going on as well. In fact the pepper made this pizza pretty hot!

This place has a really attractive bar. And you absolutely cannot miss their beer tap which is placed on almost every table. The music that was played was pretty good as well. It seems to be a place to unwind with drinks, music and sheesha and a little food, after a long day.

I would love to know your favorite place to unwind. Do leave me a comment.

Bonne Maman & Le15 – The art of French Patisserie

Bonne Maman
France tourism recently brought together Bonne Maman and Le15 for a fun baking workshop. This was held at StudiO15  – Pooja Dhingra’s very own central kitchen where all of the Le15 goodies are made. Chef Pablo and she taught all of us bloggers what a little bit of French preserve can do to dessert.

thumb_img_8354_1024

Bonne Maman is a French brand that makes the real French preserves. Preserves are more real, whole fruit as compared to jams and are kind of a tradition in France.

thumb_img_8351_1024

Studio15 has the perfect set up for a baking class. And it is so neatly organized. Pooja Dhingra and Chef Pablo got us all excited when they spoke about what the evening had in store for us. And this only just started with a welcome drink that Chef Pablo had gotten ready for us. It felt like a nice tangy watermelon based drink.

Bonne Maman

thumb_img_8359_1024

After that we were all set to begin baking! And on the menu today were Thumbprint Cookies and some Matcha Cup Cakes. Pooja guided us on each step and we moved forward pretty quickly on getting the dough done. The whole mixing and blending surely worked up an appetite. And of course all of the aroma from warm butter, sugar was honestly making it difficult to concentrate!

Now each of these were filled in with some French preserve from Bon Maman. The Matcha one had the apricot preserve and the Thumbprint cookie had the strawberry one.

And then finally it was time to grab those cookies and gobble them up. The first bite was like warm goodness. And the flavor of the strawberry preserve just works wonders. And the apricot preserve goes amazingly well with the mild matcha flavor in the cup cake.

Bonne Maman

I actually ended up getting a sample of the Bonne Maman preserve and have been having it with my morning toast. I have the apricot one which is extremely delicious. Next on my mind is the strawberry one!

So that was it for my perfect evening that was all things French. I had such a great time there.
