Garde Manger Cafe – Healthy and Delicious!

Garde Manger Cafe
Garde Manger Cafe is a newly opened, cute and cozy cafe serving healthy yet delicious food. They have a pretty interesting menu which includes a whole lot of interesting dishes that are kind of altered with healthy ingredients. And the cozy interiors make the place feel even more inviting.

Garde Manger Cafe

I tried out Garde Manger Cafe and really loved their food. I am not so much of a healthy eater, but their stuff was definitely a delight. So here’s everything that I recommend having at Garde Manger Cafe.

Mumbai Local

Garde Manger Cafe

It’s literally bhelpuri made from chickpea, arugula leaves, paneer cubes and also has the regular ingredients like kurmuram, chopped onion and tomato. And chutneys added on top too – date and tamarind which is amazingly sweet and mint and coriander which adds that little chatpata flavor. Served in cute cones.

Roasted Tomato and Basil Soup

Garde Manger Cafe

This soup is as healthy as it gets – tomato soup, with the pulp and a little basil flavor. All good!

Zesty Quinoa Salad

Garde Manger Cafe

When wholesome Quinoa, lettuce, tomatoes, black beans mix with a fresh lemon vinaigrette, the salad ends up being super delicious. Full justice done to the name!

Cous Cous Upma

Garde Manger Cafe

Cous Cous that has been tempered with some curry leaves, some mustard seeds and some chopped tomato. And some Indian spices. Definitely a super healthy but tasty option.

Black Rice Salad

Garde Manger Cafe

I didn’t know black rice could be so delicious! This one’s topped with some serious veggies – bell peppers, tomato, red Cabbage, capers, green olives. And of course this too has that bursting lemon vinaigrette flavour going on.

Italian Caprese

Garde Manger Cafe

This is Bocconccini cheese, cherry tomatoes, basil in a mix of balsamic vinegar and pesto. A dish of alternating flavors and the cheese is really good!

Chickpeas and Walnut Banana Pie

Garde Manger Cafe

Warm and comforting! This is made from chickpea, banana and topped with walnuts. Definitely try this if you’re craving some warm sweet goodness.

Belgian Waffle

Garde Manger Cafe

A whole grain waffle – yes that’s right. So may be a little less guilt. Drizzled generously with Nutella, dark chocolate and milk chocolate.
Muesli Peanut Butter Smoothie

Garde Manger Cafe

Peanut butter smoothie with crunchy muesli. If you love your peanut butter, you may want to try this version of it too.
Anti Oxidant Smoothie

Garde Manger Cafe

A glass of this and you end up feeling super fresh. It’s got mint, banana, apple juice and basil.

So these are my favorites from Garde Manger Cafe. Do try them out. They are located in Vileparle E.

Terra Chips – Flavors, Price and Review

Terra Chips
Hi Everyone! I hope you are doing well. Today I’m going to be talking about my experience of Terra Chips with you.

I recently had the opportunity of trying out a few variants from Terra Chips and to be quite honest it was quite a new and different experience. Whether it’s the taste, the ingredients or even the color of the chips, everything felt a bit more healthier and really tasty. Want to know what else was good? Keep reading!

About Terra Chips

Terra Chips

Terra Chips is the brainchild of two New York chefs, Dana Sinkler and Alex Dzieduszycki. The chips are made with real and whole root vegetables including Batata, Beet, Carrots, Parsnip, Sweet Potato amongst so many more. They are Gluten Free, GMO Free and don’t have added salt. They are made in Canola, Sunflower or Safflower oil.

Packaging

Terra Chips

Terra Chips come in a black bag which is very attractive. This has about 141 gms of chips and the bag can be pulled from both sides to open. The packaging is designed to keep the chips crispy and fresh.

On the front side of the packaging you will see the particular flavor depicted with a picture of that vegetable.

Terra Chips

On the flip side you will see a description of the flavor along with nutrition and ingredient details.

My Experience with Terra Chips

I ended up trying 3 variants from the Exotic Vegetable Chips – Original, Blues and Mediterranean.

Let me start by telling you about the Original variant.

Terra Chips

This one includes Batata (no your regular potato but a Cuban variety of Sweet Potato), Parsnip (looks similar to but isn’t the same as a radish), Sweet Potato (yam), Taro (pretty similar to Arbi) and Yuca (Tapioca). Each of these chips has an individual color – ranging from a pale yellowish white color to a red. These chips don’t feel like wafer thin ones that we are used to eating – they do feel a lot more wholesome. Flavoring wise there is literally barely anything on top. Probably a hint of sea salt is all you will feel.

Terra Chips

Terra Chips

Next I tried the Blues.

Terra Chips

I have never seen Blue chips in my life – ever! And these are a strong blue color. So of course at first I was like whaaat, but then when I tried them they were crispy and didn’t feel weird at all. These are made from naturally blue potato and have an almost purplish blue color. Again the flavor is simple – barely any salt too. Somehow I did feel that this blue potato had a slightly stronger after taste versus the others I tried.

Terra Chips

Terra Chips

Lastly I tried the Mediterranean one.

Terra Chips

These include BatataParsnipSweet PotatoTaroYuca and Ruby Dipped Vegetables (naturally red color). The flavoring in these is pretty good – a very apparent flavor of onion and garlic powder. The packaging says a hint of lime, which is in fact correct – just a tiny bit of sourness that comes along with these chips.

Terra Chips

Terra Chips

Here’s a complete list of ingredients for this:

A seasonal mix of root vegetables (sweet potato, parsnip, batata, taro, yuca), canola oil and/or safflower oil and/or sunflower oil, seasoning (whey {milk}, sea salt, evaporated cane juice, spices, onion powder, garlic powder, autolyzed yeast extract, natural olive oil flavor, citric acid, vinegar powder [maltodextrin, distilled vinegar solids], safflower oil, oil of lemon, toasted sesame oil), beet juice concentrate (for color).

Pros

Terra Chips

  • Natural Ingredients
  • Fresh and Quality Vegetables
  • Gluten Free
  • GMO Free
  • No added Salt

Cons

  • Expensive

Final Word

Terra Chips

If you are looking for a healthier version of chips, and are quite particular of the ingredients used then Terra Chips is something that you absolutely must give a try. The fact that there’s no added salt makes them a slightly healthier option. Natural vegetable flavor is mostly what you will experience while you have these. And even the one’s that have a little bit of extra zing going on it’s again naturally done.

The American Joint, BKC

The American Joint

The Capital building in BKC is buzzing with places and I happened to pass this area during lunch hour and boy was it packed! Luckily, I didn’t have to go through the effort of deciding what to eat as I was headed to The American Joint for lunch.

The American Joint

The American Joint is located on the first floor of the swanky Capital building and the minute you get off the escalator it’s right in from of you. Because they knew I was coming in for lunch, I had a reserved table. Otherwise the place was pretty full. They have a semi open kitchen and a fair bit of sitting place. During busy hours finding sitting place can be a bit tricky.

The most important thing about The American Joint however is the fact that the raw material they use to prepare their food is all ORGANIC. It’s personally handpicked, selected and used in a way to keep the nutritive value of the dish fairly high. So your not just eating tasty here, but also relatively healthy. And it is kinda ironic, since American food and healthy don’t always go hand in hand.

I tried quite a few things, but my favorites have to be:

The Tomato and Basil Soup

Homestyle, light tomato soup flavored with some basil. Really soothing.

The America Joint

Hummus to You

Warm toasted pita with Hummus that was perfection. You have to try this.

The American Joint

The American Joint

The Indian Spaghetti

Homestyle, spicy arrabiata – topped with some Indian spices and mayo. Extremely delicious.

The American Joint

San Francisco Garlic Fries

Love heavy garlic flavour? Then you will absolutely love these. And they come with a heavy sprinkle of Parmesan cheese on top.

The American Joint

Fererro Nutella Mousse

This by no means feels anything like mousse. It is in face super thick, dense and rich. Layers of nutella and chocolate with a super strong flavour.

The American Joint

These are my top picks at The American Joint. It’s a great place to try out American food that is healthy and tasty and has an Indian twist going on. Full review of China Express

China Express

Recently tried out China Express on a crazy rainy noon! It has a window like area where one can stand and eat and view everything outside! And it also has a couple of tables and chairs outside.
China Express
I tried their wok – mixed way too many sauces. Basically the person who was making my wok gave me a mix of hunan, Schezwan initially and then asked me to taste some. I found it slightly dry so he added some butter garlic sauce to it. And then it was alright.

Before this, he handed me a bowl to choose the veggies I would like added – and there was all kinds of peppers, spinach, tomatoes, carrots, corn, cabbages etc. And you can choose any number of veggies you like.
China Express
The wok tasted great – wasn’t over spicy or oily. I like that they explicitly mention that they don’t use aginomoto and cook in olive oil.
China Express
I also tried their spring rolls – they took a while to come because they were made on the spot. The outer covering was a tad bit thick but the veggies inside were delicious.
China Express
Recommend this place if you’re around for a quick bite.
