Travelling makes me really happy. So does food. So here’s a snippet of something that I really enjoyed while I was in Los Angeles recently. Watch this video from my visit to 800 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria in Downtown, LA. And while your at it, do Subscribe to my YouTube channel as well.
800 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria was just a couple of blocks from my hotel, and I visited this place one afternoon for lunch. They did have a whole authentic feel going on – open kitchen, multiple huge brick ovens and of course Margherita Pizza! If you have been following me, then you know that I absolutely enjoy a good Margherita – so here I was! And the best part was that I got to film a lot of the pizza being made. That’s how this video came along.
The pizza here was good – kinda soft and soggy like the authentic one, mild sauce and loads of Olive Oil and cheese. It was good pizza and I think I’d rate it a 4 on 5.
Here are some more pictures that you can check out from my visit here.
So if you are in Los Angeles, then do visit 800 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria. They also had a gelato section, which unfortunately I didn’t end up trying. Their pizza is quite nice and a great option if you are looking for a change than the regular American style sliced pizza. And they do have a lot of branches, across countries as well – Las Vegas, Dubai and many more.
I hope you enjoyed reading and watching. I know it’s been a while since there was a blog post but there are many interesting ones coming. So stay tuned and also subscribe to my YouTube – I do upload videos quite often. And also follow me on my social media. All of the links are below.
I’ve tried a few flavors from Paper Boat drinks, but there are 2 that particularly stand out for me – their Chilli Guava and their Aamras flavor.
The Chilli Guava flavor from Paper Boat drinks is something that gave me major throwback feels – eating peru with some chilli powder and salt mixed on top. That yummy chatpata taste, mixed with the sweetness of guava. The Chilli Guava flavor from Paper Boat drinks mimics that taste really well. They beverage is just right in consistency and the flavor is perfection.
Another flavor that I absolutely love from Paper Boat drinks is the Aamras one. It has that nice sweet and sour, pulpy mango feeling. A lot of mango beverages can get a bit to watery and not have a good consistency – but this particular one differs. And it also doesn’t give you that over sweet mango taste – the flavor is very real.
The packaging of Paper Boat drinks is so well thought out – these are literally pouches and not boxes, so they don’t end up occupying too much space in your handbag. And they come with a proper lid that can be closed and opened super easily, on top. This actually makes these drinks so comfortable to travel with, because you don’t have to worry about a straw or something to consume it. And also you don’t need to have it all in one go – the packaging is absolutely leak proof.
Another thing that I loved about Paper Boat drinks is that they feel really natural and don’t give that over sugared feeling that a lot of packed beverages give. Their ingredients seem pretty basic and nutritious which makes these a really great option.
These are available very easily at any of your nearby grocery stores or you can even order them online from Amazon. I’ve linked these below for your reference.
*I was sent the Chilli Guava flavor by Paper Boat Drinks. But I genuinely absolutely loved. The Aamras flavored one was purchased by me
And you can totally take my word and order yourself these items when you are here!
Fresh fruit cocktail jars
I haven’t seen these anywhere yet. But great concept. Fresh fruit and some alcohol together. The flavors are nice and refreshing and yet you don’t miss out on the kick! I tried the Cucumber + gin and the Melon + vodka. Melon and vodka was super duper tangy and fruity while Cucumber and gin was refreshing yet not overpowering. I loved both!
Blue frog
5 white spirits in one. This is one mean cocktail and can get you buzzing quite quick!
Curry Spiced Indian potatoes
Potato chunks deep fried, loads of masala and some curry leaves for tempering and flavor. Slightly spicy but oh so delicious! I couldn’t stop eating these.
Mexican nachos
I normally like to have nachos pretty plain – just cheese, salsa and chips. But for a change in quite liked the whole shabam going on with the Mexican nachos here. It had corn, tomatoes, capsicum, cheese and some mayo. Pretty tasty.
Pizza fries
French fries and pizza – stuff cannot get better than this! French fries that are flavored with some pizza sauce, olives and lots of cheese. Try these for sure.
Aloo dum biryani
Amazingly yummy..comes in a jar and the Raita is served very interestingly too. Extremely tasty. The masalas aren’t overpowering at all.
Kahlua, brownie and ice cream
This dessert was literally like the cherry on top of all the amazing food I ate. The combination speaks for itself. You have to try this.

I recently visited Peninsula, Sion on a rainy weekday for lunch. My experience at Central Peninsula, which is also in Sion has been pretty good – their food is honestly pretty tasty. So I was expecting the same from this too. And yes, my expectations were fulfilled. Keep reading to know what I loved!
Recommend
Tomato soup
Cottage cheese barbecue
Kurkuri kebab
Paneer makhani
Mexican rice
Blue lagoon – mocktail
Tomato Soup
Started with this. Tomato soup with some bread crumbs and that mandatory dollop of cream! Pretty tasty – like cream of tomato soup should be. Right texture, pure tomato taste. Not greasy. This is served with some bread on the side. Don’t miss the jeera breadsticks!
Cottage cheese barbecue
If you love Indian Chinese, you will love this. Spicy and sweet barbecue sauce with paneer and bits of garlic and capsicum. So tasty. Paneer chunks were soft and fresh too.
Kurkura kebab
Kebab with sev! Excellent filling. Served with a sweet and sour chutney.
Paneer makhani
Thick gravy with paneer chunks. Not overly sweet. Here too paneer was fresh. This is the chatpata gravy and not the thinner creamy makhani gravy. Pretty ok
Roti / Naan
I tried their garlic naan and didn’t enjoy it very much. It was overly crispy for my liking.
Rotis were nice.
Mexican rice
This was rice flavored with cilantro and what felt like pesto along with cheese and veggies. Veggies included all peppers, broccoli, capsicum, corn etc. Flavor of rice and cheese together was nice. And the veggies too were quite flavorful and not overly cooked.
Blue lagoon
Tried this mocktail here – blue syrup and some fizz. Pretty refreshing. If you like fizzy drinks you will love it.
Cinderella
Another cocktail – this was a bit meh! Too much going on – peach and orange and some more fruit flavors. I didn’t quite care for this.
Asia Kitchen by Mainland China is one place where I loved everything that I ate. Each and every item was delicious! Quick review of each of these items is below.
Soy peanuts
Will appear on your table as a welcome gesture. I bet you, you won’t be able to stop popping these.
Vegetarian sweet corn soup
Thick and creamy and doesn’t feel like an excess of corn flour. It’s got a little bit of veggies in it. Absolutely loved this.
Crispy lotus stem with black pepper and curry leaves
Never thought I would love lotus stem. The flavor of the Lotus stem and curry leaves together had me totally gorging on this.
Dumplings
Tried one with spinach and the other with veggies – Cabbage , carrots etc. The outer covering is soft and melt in your mouth. Veggies inside are so flavorful. Spinach doesn’t feel bitter.
Raw Papaya Salad
This is such a nice sweet and sour flavor – feels really light and refreshing. Finely chopped raw papaya, some tomatoes and a little bit of capsicum – very tasty.
Crispy crackling spinach
Loved the way this was served – looked so bomb sitting pretty in a martini glass. Slightly different than the other places I’ve had crackling spinach – this was even tinier bits and not whole leaves. Add had a slightly different, but good flavor. And was definitely the least oily one I’ve had.
Teriyaki chilli potato
A slightly different version of the regular honey chilli potato – Teriyaki gave a nice sweetish flavor and I love any tossed / fried potato. So I obviously totally loved this.
Stir fry beans
Main course started with some stir fry beans – green beans with some spring onions, chilli and sesame seeds. I usually am not the biggest fan of stir fry veggies but this was so yum!
Assorted veggies in black bean sauce
Black bean sauce done perfect – no weird taste that sometimes black bean sauce can have. Veggies included zucchini, carrots, broccoli, corn, onions. I don’t like black bean sauce either but this one was quite nice.
Golden corn, potatoes and water chestnut
This is STELLAR. A nice hot sauce felt like hunan mixed with something milder and corn, potatoes and water chestnut. It is going into my most favorite gravy list. You have to try this.
Lemongrass Fried Rice
Heavy flavor – I personally liked it. If you are ok with a heavy flavor going on in your fried rice then you will love it.
Thai exotica
Guava juice and basil – fresh and refreshing.
Malay spice melon
Highly highly recommend this one. Watermelon juice, some ginger and lime. Ginger and watermelon is such a great combo.
Lychee and vanilla ice cream
Literally came in glass bowl with a whole lot of vapor! Deseeded Lychee – win! Them and vanilla ice cream together – double win!
Honey noodles with orange and basil
If just honey noodles weren’t good enough! Zesty orange flavor on honey noodles make them even better. So sooooo delish. Another one in my list of favorite desserts.

The Belgian Waffle Co. is a cozy little place on Carter road. It was my first visit here and I wanted to have a nice warm chocolate filled waffle.
I tried their chocolate overload waffle. It took about 10-15 minutes to get ready. But was totally worth the wait!
Nutella, cocoa powder, powdered sugar and lots of chocolate, sandwiched between half a waffle. Delicious is an understatement!
The waffle was dense yet not over done. And not chewy at all. So much chocolate in it obviously tasted spectacular! And I got some vanilla ice cream with it too.
Absolutely recommend this. I can’t wait to go and have more!

Recently tried out China Express on a crazy rainy noon! It has a window like area where one can stand and eat and view everything outside! And it also has a couple of tables and chairs outside.
I tried their wok – mixed way too many sauces. Basically the person who was making my wok gave me a mix of hunan, Schezwan initially and then asked me to taste some. I found it slightly dry so he added some butter garlic sauce to it. And then it was alright.
Before this, he handed me a bowl to choose the veggies I would like added – and there was all kinds of peppers, spinach, tomatoes, carrots, corn, cabbages etc. And you can choose any number of veggies you like.
The wok tasted great – wasn’t over spicy or oily. I like that they explicitly mention that they don’t use aginomoto and cook in olive oil.
I also tried their spring rolls – they took a while to come because they were made on the spot. The outer covering was a tad bit thick but the veggies inside were delicious.
Recommend this place if you’re around for a quick bite.

I remember going to mainland China in oberoi a while back and not enjoying the meal at all. From that to this – these guys have really upped their game. I will definitely come back! You should go too.

Indi kitchen delivers Indian food to your doorstep. What’s good is that you can customize your meal as per whatever you feel like having – like you can choose between rice / rotis and the veggies you want and also the gravy that you would like. In that sense I think this is one of the first few doing it for Indian food..which is good.
Recommend:
Paneer lasooni appetizer
This is perfection – soft paneer chunks with onion and capsicum, marinated in a very tasty green coating.
Aloo kulcha
Excellent aloo filling – right amount of spices. I ate it slightly cold but couldn’t stop myself from hogging on this!
Chocolate samosa
Mini samosas with a supremely generous amount of chocolate in between. Eat these super hot.
Triple teekha gravy and paneer
This one is actually quite tasty – you can just dip some naan in as a sauce / chutney and have it. But only those who love spicy food can handle this.
Jeera rice
Not just jeera, but flavored with a whole lot of other spices. Quite nice
They also send a lovely Indian style salad – onion, carrot etc with lime and some spices.
I also tried their methi mutter malai – it was alright..not overly sweet like a lot of other places.
Then I tried their dal tadka as well and this one I didn’t particularly like.
Try this out to your customized needs. You may like it.

Asado means Mexican food to me. It’s probably the perfect place for a date night – romantically dim, candle light all over, stunning cocktails and pretty old school music.
Recommend:
Zinger – choose your herbs, flavoring and poison and watch it being turned into a cocktail
Truffle Garlic Parmesan fries
Barbecue paneer
Tex mex potato skin
Grilled vegetable flat bread
Tres leches cake
I started with a cocktail called zinger – they make the entire thing right in front of you. It’s whole mint, rosemary, pineapple, watermelon and orange. They crush it right in front of you and then stir it with some vodka and some lemon juice and fizz. Extremely refreshing – the flavor of the fresh fruits and herbs is so good.
I also tried a mocktail called outer glow. This felt like a regular fruity slush.
Then I tried something called Truffle Garlic Parmesan fries – exceptional. They had a kind of texture and were extremely delicious. Served with a dip which honestly I didn’t quite care about.
Then I tried their barbecue paneer – another great item except that it was a bit too spicy for me. I think there were multiple sauces, and they kind of gave a sweet and spicy feeling to this item. Paneer pieces were also quite soft. It came with some fries on the side and I’m always happy when I’m served fries!
Next I tried their crispy corn which was covered in a yummy sauce and served with some mayo. Another tasty item.
Then I tried their tex mex loaded potato skin – thick skinned potato outer covering filled with tomato, jalapeño, olives, corn and cheese. Exceptional.
Then I tried their Quesadilla. This had a similar filling to the skinned potato. It came with an extremely yummy salsa sauce.
This was followed by some grilled vegetable flat bread. This felt like extremely thin crust pizza with an over load of veggies. Again similar filling like the potatoes and the Quesadilla – this had some peppers, beans and zucchini as well. And I quite liked it.
Then I had some veggie tacos and this too had all of those veggies. These were alright.
Then I tried another cocktail called Terrific tea – this was served from a tea pot into a cup! It was tequila based a and the cucumber flavoring kinda killed it for me.
Moving on to dessert – I tried their banoffie pie – didn’t like it at all. This was followed with something called tresleches cake – and this was sooooo delish. Vanilla Cake and vanilla creamy icing dipped in a mildly flavored milk – beautiful.
This place is really good for romantic dinners. Cocktails are great and so is the food.
