Carter road has that one lane which is so buzzing – all you can see is food. Right from Shawarmas to Dosa to Chinese. And so I tried out this one hyped place called Emprino. To know about my experience, keep reading.
Finally visited this place which has been recommended to me by quite a few foodies. Emprino is on ‘the’ food street at Carter road. I came here for a late dinner and was quite happy with my meal.
Vegetarian Fried Wonton
Hakka sauce and wheat flat noodles
I wanted to order their wok and so I was asked to taste the sauces before I can select one for my wok – loved this whole try before you buy thing. I went for the hakka sauce – it was slightly fiery. That combined with flat wheat noodles and so many veggies like zucchini, peppers, broccoli. I quite liked it.
I also tried their fried wonton. Phenomenal is an understatement! Although they were slightly over crispy, I loved them. Amazing veggie filling inside.
And I tried the dimsums – the basic simple vegetarian ones. These too were exceptional. The outer covering was soft and not chewy at all unlike a whole lot of places. The inner filling didn’t feel kachha too.
Also tried paneer pieces in a slightly sweet kinda sauce. And there were some carrot noodles along with the Paneer – carrot looking like noodles! I didn’t care much for this to be honest.
I found this place to be extremely value for money. Definitely coming back for more appetizers!
I love ice cream and especially the sancha type in fresh, seasonal fruit flavors. So I visited this legendary place, and was a tad bit disappointed.
I tried the sitaphal, mango, Peru and the hot favorite – roasted almond here. The roasted almond one was good – almonds with chocolate chips taste amazing. Then I looooved the Peru one. It was like eating the fruit itself – that much intensity of flavor.
Roasted almond, Sitaphal & Mango Icecream
I also tried their mango ice cream and honestly I thought it was overrated – it didn’t feel the most authentic to me. The sitaphal one I didn’t care about at all – over thick and didn’t feel like real sitaphal either.
I’d say stick to roasted almond when you come here and if you love fruit and natural flavor then keep your search on.
Matunga is probably my most favorite place to eat – there are so many great options there. Here’s another one I love – Ayyappan Idli Store. Keep reading for the complete review.
Another great find in Matunga. I tell you – probably most of my favorite places will be here! This store is always crowded and I’m sure that’s because it’s a hot favorite in the area.
The whackiest dosa you can think of is what you should try here. I’ve played safe and tried only mysore masala but looking at everyone’s order around me, I was super tempted to order so many others. The dosa is served with sambhar, coconut chutney and a red chutney seemed to be full of tomato and garlic. So yummy! And the dosa is quite huge – definitely wasn’t my cup of tea to finish it all by myself.
On my wishlist is the Chinese dosa here.
Do try this place out and I’m sure you’ll find your favorite dosa here. Value for money guaranteed.
I’ve had a really horrible experience dealing with these guys. And all of that was so not worth it for a bunch of rotten pastries. Read my complete review below.
If Zomato had ZERO or negative marking this place deserves it. I called for 4 pastries from here last night – pineapple, black forest, Dutch truffle and their best selling royal chocolate. All 4 were STALE! Have listed their qualities below:
Thick and chewy icing
Chocolate that could not have melted
I managed to call them and tell them about their brilliant pastries. And to that the response I got from the person answering the call was – I’ll send fresh ones now! So I was like why send me stale ones in the first place and to that the response was – actually our fridge stopped working for about 10 minutes and that might have caused this! I then contacted the owner who was so arrogant – I asked for a clear cut refund and he tried to tell me to forget about the refund and that he’d send me fresh pastries now! So basically I spend and taste crap and don’t get refunded for it.
Do NOT order from here. EVER. And these guys still owe me 328 bucks for the crap they sent.
I recently tried out the pizza from here and it was ah-ma-zing! Read my full review of 1Tablespoon Pizza Kitchen below!
My love for 1Tablespoon Pizza Kitchen is probably going to get unconditional ?
After having their yummy pizzas on home delivery, I decided to visit their Matunga outlet where you can sit and eat. This is mostly outdoor seating and very minimalistic.
I had their margherita pizza because that’s the one I ate earlier and loved. This time too it was fantastic. Excellent pizza base and the sauce and everything was so tasty. I don’t think that a vegetarian pizza place can get better than this.
Absolutely totally recommend this place. And I’ll surely the other types of pizza here soon.
