Their cakes and biscuits are delicious but go early and be prepared to wait in a queue. This is one of the best bakeries in Pune and I recommend grabbing as much cake as you can from here!

Vohuman Cafe

This place serves the best cheese omlette, ever! Their cheese omlette is so cheesy, you need to eat it to believe it! This place again gets super packed for breakfast and you’ll find the signature cheese omlette on every table. A must visit old Irani bakery in Pune.

Growel’s 101 Mall – Thoosday!

Growel’s 101 mall in Kandivali, Mumbai is easily one of the biggest and most fun malls in Mumbai.

While Growel’s 101 offers a wide variety of shopping and fun activities, they even have a very interesting and attractive food court. And it gets even better on a Tuesday when you can avail of a flat 40% off on selected food outlets.

While you can find a ton of options to enjoy as part of the Thoosday offer at Growel’s 101, here are a few which I personally enjoyed.

Spring Rolls at Cafe Bollywood

Spring rolls stuffed with vegetables tossed in Schezwan Sauce – now this is something that anyone would love. These are priced at Rs.114 on Tuesdays as part of the offer.

Thali at Sanskriti

Want a full meal that includes roti, subzi, dal, chawal, sweetdish, lemonade and more? Then the Thali at Sanskriti is a good option. You can enjoy this for Rs.180 as part of Thoosday.

Pasta at Eatalia

A really cool Italian food outlet, Eatalia serves delicious pasta and the good thing is that it’s at 40% off on a Tuesday. Pick up the cheesy pasta or the Eatalia special for a price of Rs.163 each.

Alu Gobi Paratha at Only Parathas

These can be easily shared among 2 people as the sheer size of these parathas is quite good. You can even enjoy other food options in the Thoosday offer.

I absolutely loved my day at Growel’s 101 mall. There is so much to do, to shop and to eat. And you can make it even more worthwhile by checking out their Thoosday offer on Tuesdays.

Taftoon BKC

Taftoon
Taftoon BKC takes you on a delectable journey across flavors from the Grand Trunk Road.

Taftoon means bread in Persian and at Taftoon BKC not only can you expect a variety of bread, but also some flavorful gravies, kebabs and lots more.

I recently had the chance to visit Taftoon BKC and here is what I had.

Kashmiri Kahwa

Taftoon Kashmiri Kahwa

I couldn’t have asked for a better start to my meal at Taftoon. They served up some warm Kashmiri Kahwa, complete with a lot of chopped almonds. Hot and beautifully sweet with honey. And the feel of having this in kulhads was incomparable.

Dahi Bhutteyan Kebab

Taftoon Dahi Bhutteyan Kebab

These were kebabs made from corn and hung curd. They had a sweet and spicy kind of flavor and were served with a delicious mint chutney.

Mochar Cutlets

Taftoon Mochar Cutlets

Their crunchy texture is so good and when you have these with the mustard dip, it is the most delightful combination.

Chatpatey Paneer Tikke

Taftoon Chatpatey Paneer Tikke

Soft paneer cubes marinated in a tangy chutney of sorts – these were tasty beyond imagination.

Teen Miri Aloo

Something as simple as potatoes and pepper but done so well.

Soya Chaap

Very interesting flavor – soya marinated in a masala that had a ton of garlic and yoghurt.

Chotey Kulche Chhole

Taftoon Chotey Kulche Chhole

A very good portion size for someone wanting to have a solo meal. The Kulcha was stuffed with a delicious masaledaar filling, along with the chhole placed on top of it. And some pickled onions to go with this.

Mushroom Pe Harissa

Taftoon Mushroom Pe Harissa

As yummy as they look!

Malai Broccoli and Gobi

Taftoon Malai Broccoli and Gobi

Cauliflower and broccoli in a delicious tandoori marinate.

Jal Jeera Palate Cleanser

Taftoon Jal Jeera Palate Cleanser

In between courses, you get a portion of this delicious Jal Jeera Palate cleanser which has the perfect blend. And it will leave you wanting for more!

Chholar Dal Luchi

Taftoon Chholar Dal Luchi

Chana dal made with lots of ghee and flavored with a lot of whole spices – this is one delicious item on their menu. Try this with luchis (puris) and you will be sorted.

Bharwaan Kadhai

Taftoon Bharwaan Kadhai

This has bhindi, mircha, brinjal, tomatoes that are stuffed with paneer. It has a delicious taste from the sweet and sour tomato gravy and the heavy flavoring from onion and ginger.

I relished this with some Lal Naan which is a crisp Amritsari roti topped with sesame seeds, Khamiri Roti, Besan Ki Roti which was perfect. On the side here was also some Maa Choliya Ki Dal which was mainly rajma and black dal, with a lovely creamy feel.

Lal Rogani Paneer

Taftoon Lal Rogani Paneer

Paneer cubes in another delicious tomato gravy with a very peculiar flavor.

Kofta Al Yakhni

Taftoon Kofta Al Yakhni

Lauki kofta in a mildly sour, yoghurt based gravy. Thoroughly enjoyed this with the Zaffrani Taftoon which had a very mild flavoring from saffron and cardamom.

Kaju Anjeer Malai Kulfi

Taftoon Kaju Anjeer Malai Kulfi

This took my love for malai kulfi to a whole new level. Really creamy kulfi topped with caramelized figs and some chia seeds.

Chhena Platter

Taftoon Chhena Platter

A plate full of bite sized sweets – included ras malai, gulab jamun, rose sandwich sandesh and kheer kodom. Perfect if you like variety in your dessert.

Taftoon

You can also enjoy mocktails and cocktails here. I tried something called The Botanical Blend and it was very light and refreshing. It contained rosemary, ginger-honey syrup, lime juice, gin and some tonic water. I also tried something called Elixir of the Hills and this was a white rum based drink with a basil flavor and some pineapple juice, hibiscus syrup and a sour mix.

Taftoon

If you are looking to eat some good Indian food which is complete with good taste and an ever greater experience then definitely have Taftoon on your list. It’s a great place for a special occasion and I’m sure you will love it.

Shiv Sagar Kamala Mills

Shiv Sagar at Kamala Mills is the newest one in town.

All through college, Shiv Sagar at Churchgate used to be a common haunt. And I do have a lot of things that I love from their menu.

The newest outlet of Shiv Sagar at Kamala Mills is quite spacious. They have 2 levels of seating area and the upper section actually is even rented out for private parties and gatherings.

Here is everything I tried from my last visit to Shiv Sagar:

Pav Bhaji

shiv sagar

Any visit to Shiv Sagar is incomplete without indulging in their delicious Pav Bhaji. Everyone has their favorite ones in the city, and this does feature in one of mine. Their Bhaji is n’t too spicy – in fact it is the right kind of flavor and the Pavs are buttered to perfection.

Paneer Makhmali Tikka

shiv sagar

This is a new addition which is part of their specials menu called KamalaKaHamla. It’s a deliciously soft Paneer Tikka starter.

Paneer Albela

shiv sagar

Another one from their KamlaKaHamla menu, this one is a tad bit different than a regular Paneer Tikka – it has a khatta-meetha kind of flavor and is actually quite an interesting dish.

Triple Schezwan Rice

shiv sagar

I also indulged in their Triple Schezwan Rice which comes in a ton of quantity. It is fairly good and if you like Indian Chinese then you will enjoy this.

I also like their South Indian fare including idlis, dosas and uttapams. They even have decent subzi roti. It’s a good place if you are looking for a multi-cuisine, vegetarian, mid-range restaurant in Lower Parel.

That was it from my visit to Shiv Sagar. I hope this review was helpful. Stay tuned for more reviews and videos.

SUDAMA Pure Veg Restaurant | Review

Sudama pure Veg
Sudama Pure Veg is located in Krishna Palace Hotel in Mumbai.

Known for it’s creamy gravies and masala chai, Sudama Pure Veg definitely gets a lot of things right from it’s vast menu.

I recently visited Sudama Pure Veg and tried a whole bunch of things. Here’s what I had:

Oriental Soup

Sudama pure Veg

This was from their Asian menu and had a mix of tomato and hot chilli flavor to it. It also had some veggies inside like baby corn, cabbage and broccoli. It’s a bit on the spicier side.

Broccoli Almond Soup

Sudama pure Veg

It’s got a very raw taste from broccoli. And is strictly for someone who enjoys that vegetable! It is super creamy in texture, but the taste didn’t quite work for me.

Chilli Cheese Toast

Sudama pure Veg

This was perfection! It’s been a while since I had such good Chilli Cheese Toast and I highly recommend this to anyone visiting the place.

Dragon Paneer

Sudama pure Veg

Fried paneer chunks coated with a delicious sauce. It also had loads of garlic and that along with the sauce made for a very tasty dish.

Veg Tava Roll

Sudama pure Veg

A fried vegetable roll in a spinach and mint gravy. Quite a different dish! It almost feels like hara bhara kebab with creamy spinach gravy over it. It does taste quite nice.

Subzi Chilli Milli

Sudama pure Veg

Mix veggies in 2 gravies – one is more on the sweeter side and the other is spicy. I personally loved the sweet gravy.

Birbal-E-Paneer

Sudama pure Veg

Paneer chunks in a rich and creamy, onion tomato gravy. Neither is it too sweet nor too spicy.

I relished the subzis with an assorted bread basket of rotis, kulchas and parathas.

Sudama pure Veg

Chocolate Bomb

Sudama pure Veg

Finally for dessert I tried their Chocolate Bomb. This isn’t just delicious to eat, but also fun to watch. It’s basically a whole ball of chocolate which totally crumbles right in front of you.

Sudama pure Veg

I also tried their Masala Chai. Very strong and good flavor. And in mocktails I tried their Blackcurrant Pop and Yuzu Tree.

Sudama pure Veg

Sudama pure Veg

I recommend trying out Sudama Pure Veg. Their food is quite good and so is the quantity.

I hope this review was helpful. Stay tuned for my next post.

Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant

Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant
Sapphire vegetarian restaurant is located in The Emerald hotel in Juhu.

You will find a wide variety of dishes across cuisines at Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant. This includes Mexican, Italian and even Greek food!

I recently visited this place and here is what I tried:

Manchow Soup

Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant

For me a good manchow soup is one that has the intense hot flavour from garlic and ginger. This one kind of lacked that. Also the fried noodles served with the soup had a slightly off taste – the kind that is when you have when the items are a little beyond their shelf life.

Veg Crispy

Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant

This is an extremely appetising Chinese starter. It’s fried vegetables coated with maida and sweet and spicy sauces. Again this lacked that zingy taste and honestly the vegetables weren’t crispy at all.

Hara Bhara Kebabs

Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant

These made up for everything! The Hara Bhara Kebabs at Sapphire are a must have.

Sugarcane Juice

Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant

They actually serve really good, fresh sugarcane juice. It’s got some ginger and lime which I love in a sugarcane juice. A welcome change from the over sweet fruit juices and artificial syrups that everyone serves.

Masala Papad

Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant

Nothing like deep fried, crunchy papad with tons of tomato and onion and chilli powder!

Veg Subz Biryani

Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant

Fried onion, carrots, peas, french beans, paneer and corn – all of these and the fragrant rice made for a pretty decent biryani. It’s served with some vegetable raita.

Gulab Jamun

Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant

These were indeed delicious. The perfect texture and taste.

If you visit Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant, I’d recommend trying Indian versus Chinese food. I personally preferred it more. And definitely indulge in their Hara Bhara Kebabs. They are perfection!

FLYP@MTV | Review

FLYP@MTV
The first FLYP@MTV launched in Mumbai in Kamala Mills (Oasis City).

A co-working space that turns into a hip club, FLYP@MTV is indeed worth a visit. Spread over a fairly huge place, they even have a stage area for gigs and already have names like Nikhil Chinappa performing there. The interiors definitely feel more upscale as compared to the super grunge looking bars. They have well finished wooden seating ranging from smaller 4 seaters to longish community tables. If you prefer a more private set up then you can check out their enclosed seating which has super comfortable couches. Their bar section looks lit and they even an outdoor section where they willl be serving sheesha. They also have a pretty cool bar van in their outside seating area.

FLYP@MTV

FLYP@MTV

FLYP@MTV

FLYP@MTV

FLYP@MTV

FLYP@MTV

FLYP@MTV serves a variety of specialities and all of these have been put together by Chef Ranveer Brar. Interesting mix of flavors and textures is definitely something you can expect here.

Here’s all of the dishes I tried at FLYP@MTV

Roast Melon and Quinoa Salad

FLYP@MTV

Watermelon and arugula is one of my most favorite combinations. Soft watermelon with its inherent sweetness and the bitterness from the arugula leaves is mellowed down with creamy cheese and the light olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing. What adds to the texture is the sprinkle of crispy quinoa on top.

Dahi Ke Kebab

FLYP@MTV

These are not the melt in your mouth soft kind of kebabs, but in fact have a little crunch to them. They come with a rasgulla kachumber on the side which was exceptional – sweet rasgulla pieces along with spiced boiled potato, tomato, onion and coriander. Alternating flavors really felt good in this.

Smokey Paneer Tikka

FLYP@MTV

Soft paneer chunks marinated with Chipotle sauce and spices lead to a super fiery taste. It even has an apparent hot ginger flavor going on. It’s spicy, but delicious!

Tandoori Dhokla

FLYP@MTV

Slight sour and sweet taste from khaman with a charred smoky flavor. This is quite a unique dish! And its topped with patra bits, onion, capsicum and a curry leaf foam which has such a distinctive taste.

Curried Mac n Cheese

FLYP@MTV

Mac n Cheese with a hint of curry leaf flavor. It’s a very interesting dish and is served with herbed toast on the side.

Philadelphia Cheese Cake topped with French Biscotti

FLYP@MTV

A classic cheesecake with a crunchy texture – this one is a surprise honestly! It’s got raspberry coule, chocolate noodles and vanilla pastry cream on the side. The raspberry coule adds a good tarty edge to the subtle taste. Even the chocolate noodles add to the crunchy texture.

Tuesday Wali Drink

FLYP@MTV

I sipped on this all through my meal. It had a sweet flavor from lychee and a sour feel from cranberry. And it also had some ginger bits that took the drink to another level.

I quite enjoyed the food at FLYP@MTV. You can get a variety of interesting finger food and appetizers, pasta, pizza, ramen bowls, Indian meals and lots more. Do check out the place. It’s perfect for ‘flyp’ping from work to party in no time!

Jamjar Diner Andheri

Jamjar Diner Pink sauce Pasta
Jamjar Diner has been on my wish list for a while and I recently had the opportunity to head here to try out their Summer Specials.

Jamjar Diner Jacket Potatoes with Mac and cheese

Located in Andheri, Jamjar Diner serves burgers, pizza, pasta, hot dogs, hand churned ice-creams and a lot more. Let’s straight jump in to what I had here.

Masala Chai

Jamjar Diner Masala chai

Even if it’s summer, I do need a minimum of 1 cup of my poison. And they served me some good, kadak Masala Chai here.

Nachos

Jamjar Diner Nachos

I definitely recommend ordering the Nachos here. The chips are super crisp and are a welcome change from so many other places that serve packed Corn Chips. And they come with Salsa, Beans, Jalapeno and some onions and tomatoes as well. The salsa is nice and tangy and the jalapeno adds that tinge of hot flavor.

Jacket Potatoes Mac & Cheese

Jamjar Diner Jacket Potatoes

I love potatoes and cheese and so I was completely sold on this one! Skinned Potato chunks, with a generous layer of Mac and Cheese on top. This dish can get quite heavy.

Pink Sauce Pasta

Jamjar Diner Pasta

I loved the sauce and the texture of the Pasta. The only hitch was there was too much of Chilli Flakes on top. Apart from that, it totally worked for me.

Chilli Garlic Pizza

Jamjar Diner Pizza

This one’s spicy – chillies and garlic all over a pizza. However, the taste of burnt garlic with the Pizza sauce and cheese feels amazing.

Old School Pizza

Jamjar Diner Chilli Garlic pizza

This comes with onion, capsicum and mushroom as toppings. Pretty simple, yet delicious. Their Pizza is thin crust and done to perfection.

Protein Power Smoothie

Dark Chocolate and Banana always work as a combination for me. And this one is no exception. This feels really wholesome and to be honest can be a meal in itself.

Berry Good Morning

Jamjar Diner Berry Good Morning

Mixed berries, Chia seeds, almonds, bananas among other things. If you love berries then this one’s a must try.

Flower Pot

Jamjar Diner Flower Pot

One indulgent flower pot this! Brownie, Oreo Cookie Crumbs, Marshmallows – basically all things nice. Highly recommended!

Jamjar Diner Interiors

Jamjar Diner Earthquake theme

Apart from good food, Jamjar Diner also boasts of really interesting interiors. They’ve tried to keep the old American Diner vibe – – which basically entails a whole lot of wooden furniture, grungy music and of course a vintage Jukebox. And they also have a cozy open air area, which can be quite nice in the evenings. And don’t miss the earthquake theme that they have going on while you take the stairs to head to their rooftop seating. It can be quite trippy! They also bake their own fresh bread everyday and you can even purchase it while you’re here.

Jamjar Diner Fresh Bread

Vortex South

Vortex South Kebab
Vortex South is yet another name in the all vegetarian bars that South Mumbai seems to be buzzing with.

The interiors are pretty interesting. It kinda seemed to me that Vortex South could even be a cool co-working space during the day- at least it seemed that way from their design. I came here for dinner recently and was quite happy with my food. Here is a sneak peek of everything I tried at Vortex South.

Tomato Basil Soup

Vortex South Tomato Basil Soup

If I see this on the menu, chances are that I’m trying it out! And it wasn’t a let down at all. Good consistency and flavor.

Assorted Kebab Platter

Vortex South Paneer

The staff at Vortex South was kind enough to serve an assorted kebab platter to me, so that I would get to sample the most. And i liked a lot of these.

The Cornobell was amazing. It was a seekh kebab with corn and bell peppers.

Cheddar Babies were delicious too. Basically baby potatoes with cheese and a heavy basil flavor.

Kaveri – this was paneer tikka with a massive curry leaf flavor.

Khatta is the new spice – a mildly sour kind of twist to paneer tikka.

There were more too. But the ones listed above were the best.

Cheese Burst Pizza

Vortex South Cheese Burst

You can see the cheese burst right here – it was a total overdose of cheese.

And the amount of veggie toppings was seriously generous! The sauce was slightly home-style, but honestly I didn’t mind it.

Masala Pasta

Vortex South Masala Pasta

I’ve never really enjoyed a white sauce pasta. And call me Desi, but this one with all the right masalas totally worked for me 🙂

Triple Schezwan Rice

Vortex South Triple Schezwan

This was amazing – that proper old-style Indian-Chinese flavor was so spot on!

Sizzling Brownie

Vortex South sizzling brownie

The brownie didn’t feel old, but in fact was perfectly warm. And the sheer size of the brownie chunk – it was enormous!

Berry Mist

Vortex South Cocktails

This is an all berry drink – different berry juices and slushes together. So it has a very tarty taste – something I love.

Lava FlowVortex South Mocktails

This is like a Banana and Coconut Cream drink. If you love these, then you will enjoy this.

So that was it from my visit to Vortex South. Do try out the place if you are in the area.

Thank you so much for reading and stay tuned for my next post. XOXO!

Vegetarian Food at Broaster Chicken Bandra

Broaster Chicken Bandra Vegetarian
If you’re a vegetarian and heading to Broaster Chicken Bandra, then let me guide you on a few things that you can order 🙂

Top Vegetarian Recommendations at Broaster Chicken Bandra

Butter Garlic Potatoes

Broaster Chicken Bandra Butter Garlic Fries

Fries tossed with a generous amount of butter and garlic. Butter and garlic together is an enticing combination for me. I also love fries so together this tastes really good.

Tex Mex

Broaster Chicken Bandra Tex Mex

Full on nachos kind of flavor – jalapeno, olives, tomatoes, onions, salsa. Toss some fries in this, and that probably explains this dish! Eat these really quick as the fries become a little bit soggy because of all the veggies. But overall, really flavorful.

Pink Sauce Pasta

Broaster Chicken Bandra Pink Sauce Pasta

Just Pasta and Sauce – no veggies in this one. The sauce is neither too creamy nor to tangy. Pretty good flavor. It’s served with 2 pieced of garlic bread which was nice and crisp.

The Brick Shake

Broaster Chicken Bandra Dessert

A cup made out of chocolate filled with chocolate bricks! And if that wasn’t enough already, you will also find some more mousse kind of chocolate inside. Very indulgent!

Raspberry Shake

Broaster Chicken Bandra Raspberry Shake

A very no nonsense kinda shake. Comes in a beer bottle though!

Chulbul Soda

Broaster Chicken Bandra Chulbul Soda

Perfect for a hot summer afternoon. It’s their version of Masala Thumbs Up.

Broaster Chicken Bandra Reclamation

As a vegetarian, you shouldn’t worry about coming to this place. Yes the name and a whole lot of the menu spells CHICKEN but there is enough and more good vegetarian food that you can have here. The ambience is quite rustic – high chairs and wooden tables. They have a decent selection of music too. All in all, quite a good hangout. And even the food is pretty good.

Thank you so much for reading and stay tuned for my next post. XOXO!
