Icekraft Oshiwara – Waffles, savories and freshly rolled Ice Cream!

Icekraft Oshiwara
Icekraft Oshiwara has totally caught my eye – there’s something about freshly rolled ice cream that I absolutely enjoy. Not only ice creams, but even their savories, waffles, freakshakes are an absolute delight.

I tried many different things at Icekraft Oshiwara and quite enjoyed all of it. You can take a look at all the delicious stuff i gorged on while i was there:

To be absolutely honest, I loved everything I had. Fresh and tasty. Take a look!

Best.

Icekraft Oshiwara
Berry blast 🙂

Overall, everything was really good at Icekraft Oshiwara. The savories are fresh and that itself becomes a major distinguishing factor as compared to several other eateries that serve frozen and merely reheated food.

The waffles are perfectly crunchy and that is super important in the eggless variety. They are a little spongy but honestly that didn’t matter to me. And the toppings are generous and how! The quantity of chocolate chips and nutella is seriously wow!

The ice creams are rolled right in front of you. No artificial flavor or syrups are used. Fruits used are fresh. And their flavor comes through really well. There’s also a massive selection of toppings so you can choose from sprinkles, to fruits, to cereal and so much more.

I highly recommend this place. If, like me you are a vegetarian then you will truly appreciate the variety one can get here. Check them out and also let them know that I sent you 🙂

Yogurtbay Lower Parel

Yogurtbay Lower Parel
Yogurtbay Lower Parel is a place where you can not only fulfil your Yogurt craving, but also your waffle cravings. I recently tried out their outlet located in Todi Mills and got a little insight into their offerings.

Yogurtbay Lower Parel

At Yogurtbay Lower Parel, you will find a ton of yogurt flavors – ranging from fruity flavors like strawberry and mango, to chocolate and red velvet. And even some exquisite ones like tiramisu, blueberry, oreo cheesecake and more. So here’s the flavors that I tried and what I thought of them:

Vanilla

Tastes pretty similar to vanilla ice cream, but of course feels a lot lighter. And in my opinion creamier too.

Oreo Cheese Cake

This is a creamy oreo flavored yogurt. A great replacement if you are craving a full on oreo cookie dessert.

Really Strawberry

Feels like a fresh strawberry ice cream.

Chocolate

This one is sugar free – so if you are looking for that kind of an option you definitely have a chocolate one available.

Blueberry Cheesecake

This is my favorite flavor from here – exactly like a good blueberry cheesecake should be. Definitely try it. It is their fastest running flavor.

You can even select toppings of your choice to go with your yogurt – these can be fresh fruits like kiwi and berries, or just some chocolate chips. Or you can have some fun with sprinkles, jujubes and jellies.

Yogurtbay Lower Parel

I enjoyed this Chocolate yogurt topped with some gems, some chocolate chips and a whole lot of jujubes.

The Yogurtbay Lower Parel is 100% vegetarian. Even their waffles are eggless.

Yogurtbay Lower Parel

To be honest, the my experience with the waffles at yogurtbay wasn’t all that top notch. I tried their belgian chocolate waffle which is just covered in chocolate of all forms. The waffles feel slightly chewy. I also tried the Nutella one – it has some white chocolate, almond chips and some caramelized sugar. This one is quite nice – only if the nutella were a little more generous I would definitely enjoy it more. For vegetarian waffles there are definitely more places that I would rather go to. I will give it to them though for their presentation – waffle on a stick. Makes it pretty convenient to eat.

Yogurtbay Lower Parel

So that was it from my visit to Yogurtbay Lower Parel. I do really recommend their yogurt. Do try it out if you get a chance.

That was the all new Desi Deli Oshiwara for you. I tried a whole lot from their new menu along with some good wine and quite liked a lot of stuff. Take a look!

Sangria

Desi Deli Oshiwara

There is no going wrong with this amazing red wine Sangria. Done really well.

Bread with some Rosemary & Walnut Pesto

Desi Deli Oshiwara

Crunchy bread pieces with a really delicious pesto layered atop. It had a hint of rosemary and tasted delicious. This paired with the red wine Sangria is something you can spend an entire evening with!

Vegetarian Desi Dogs

Desi Deli Oshiwara

New addition to their super famous desi hot dogs. They had 3 options – a tangy, a spicy and a sweet.

The Tangy Dog had a nice pickle kinda after taste.

The Spicy one was actually the most delicious but careful – it does get really spicy!

The Sweet Dog has a really nice flavor from caramelized onions and a sweet sauce.

Sparkling wine

Desi Deli Oshiwara

Pair the desi dogs with some sparkling wine and you’ve got yourself a damn good combo.

Desi Deli Oshiwara

They have so many more such options – good food paired with the right liquor. Definitely recommend visiting them and enjoying a really good meal. And if you are looking for options on what you should eat there, apart from these then do check out my review here.

Bombay Biryani – A vegetarian’s guide!

Bombay Biryani
Bombay Biryani is located in Hill Road, Bandra. If you know Jimme’s Kitchen then it’s right next to it. It’s a pretty new restaurant serving kebabs, biryani and various other items. Being a vegetarian I was slightly apprehensive to visit this place but it was a pretty good experience.

So here is my guide – a vegetarians’ guide on what you should be eating at Bombay Biryani!

Hara Bhara Kebabs

Bombay Biryani

These are fried to perfection – the right kind of crispy and crunchy; not even slightly overdone in any way. I did feel that they went chewy after a while, but that could be because of the longish photo session we had with them! These are served with a coriander chutney on the side which is super tasty. And it also comes with some salad. These Hara Bhara Kebabs topped with some cheese is just what you need to start off an awesome meal at Bombay Biryani!

Bombay Biryani

Cheese Schezwan Naan

unadjustednonraw_thumb_1fdd

This dish here is absolutely recommended. Naan filled with cheese and schezwan sauce. It doesn’t get more Indo-Chinese than this! It does taste pretty delicious. The warm naan, melting cheese and spicy schezwan. Combination alert!!

Paneer Biryani

unadjustednonraw_thumb_1fe2

Almost feels like paneer tikka and fragrant rice. The Biryani doesn’t feel dry at all. In fact the masala is spread out fairly well. The paneer chunks are soft. Overall quite nice!

Subz Dum Biryani

Bombay Biryani

Loads of vegetables – carrots, french beans and more in a spicy masala. It does have a super strong garlic after taste but honestly, I quite enjoyed it.

Both the biryanis were serves with raita that had some jeera powder and some garlic. First time for me trying out raita with garlic – but pretty good.

Mumbaiya Santra

Bombay Biryani

This tangy orange drink had a taste of pure santra meets jaljeera. If you enjoye these kind of flavors ask for this one.

Salted Caramel Phirni

Bombay Biryani

I’m honestly not the biggest fan of Phirni but this one seemed pretty nice and creamy. And the Salted Caramel was definitely that nice alternate flavor that enhance a sweet dish. Do try this.

Overall their food is slightly spicy, at least for me. So you can either enjoy it as is, or ask for slightly lower spiced dishes. All in all, I quite enjoyed my food from Bombay Biryani.

Bombay Biryani can be a good home delivery option. Hit them up to check if they deliver in your area.

Terra Chips – Flavors, Price and Review

Terra Chips
Hi Everyone! I hope you are doing well. Today I’m going to be talking about my experience of Terra Chips with you.

I recently had the opportunity of trying out a few variants from Terra Chips and to be quite honest it was quite a new and different experience. Whether it’s the taste, the ingredients or even the color of the chips, everything felt a bit more healthier and really tasty. Want to know what else was good? Keep reading!

About Terra Chips

Terra Chips

Terra Chips is the brainchild of two New York chefs, Dana Sinkler and Alex Dzieduszycki. The chips are made with real and whole root vegetables including Batata, Beet, Carrots, Parsnip, Sweet Potato amongst so many more. They are Gluten Free, GMO Free and don’t have added salt. They are made in Canola, Sunflower or Safflower oil.

Packaging

Terra Chips

Terra Chips come in a black bag which is very attractive. This has about 141 gms of chips and the bag can be pulled from both sides to open. The packaging is designed to keep the chips crispy and fresh.

On the front side of the packaging you will see the particular flavor depicted with a picture of that vegetable.

Terra Chips

On the flip side you will see a description of the flavor along with nutrition and ingredient details.

My Experience with Terra Chips

I ended up trying 3 variants from the Exotic Vegetable Chips – Original, Blues and Mediterranean.

Let me start by telling you about the Original variant.

Terra Chips

This one includes Batata (no your regular potato but a Cuban variety of Sweet Potato), Parsnip (looks similar to but isn’t the same as a radish), Sweet Potato (yam), Taro (pretty similar to Arbi) and Yuca (Tapioca). Each of these chips has an individual color – ranging from a pale yellowish white color to a red. These chips don’t feel like wafer thin ones that we are used to eating – they do feel a lot more wholesome. Flavoring wise there is literally barely anything on top. Probably a hint of sea salt is all you will feel.

Terra Chips

Terra Chips

Next I tried the Blues.

Terra Chips

I have never seen Blue chips in my life – ever! And these are a strong blue color. So of course at first I was like whaaat, but then when I tried them they were crispy and didn’t feel weird at all. These are made from naturally blue potato and have an almost purplish blue color. Again the flavor is simple – barely any salt too. Somehow I did feel that this blue potato had a slightly stronger after taste versus the others I tried.

Terra Chips

Terra Chips

Lastly I tried the Mediterranean one.

Terra Chips

These include BatataParsnipSweet PotatoTaroYuca and Ruby Dipped Vegetables (naturally red color). The flavoring in these is pretty good – a very apparent flavor of onion and garlic powder. The packaging says a hint of lime, which is in fact correct – just a tiny bit of sourness that comes along with these chips.

Terra Chips

Terra Chips

Here’s a complete list of ingredients for this:

A seasonal mix of root vegetables (sweet potato, parsnip, batata, taro, yuca), canola oil and/or safflower oil and/or sunflower oil, seasoning (whey {milk}, sea salt, evaporated cane juice, spices, onion powder, garlic powder, autolyzed yeast extract, natural olive oil flavor, citric acid, vinegar powder [maltodextrin, distilled vinegar solids], safflower oil, oil of lemon, toasted sesame oil), beet juice concentrate (for color).

Pros

Terra Chips

  • Natural Ingredients
  • Fresh and Quality Vegetables
  • Gluten Free
  • GMO Free
  • No added Salt

Cons

  • Expensive

Final Word

Terra Chips

If you are looking for a healthier version of chips, and are quite particular of the ingredients used then Terra Chips is something that you absolutely must give a try. The fact that there’s no added salt makes them a slightly healthier option. Natural vegetable flavor is mostly what you will experience while you have these. And even the one’s that have a little bit of extra zing going on it’s again naturally done.

Mockingbird Cafe Mumbai – Review & Recommendations

Mockingbird Cafe Mumbai
I’ve passed Mockingbird Cafe Mumbai so many times and yet I managed to go there only very recently. If you are passing by that Churchgate road in the evening or night, you will definitely notice the quaintly lit Mockingbird Cafe. It looks really pretty from the outside.  And the food is pretty good too.

Here’s a little video from my visit to Mockingbird Cafe Mumbai

Subscribe to my YouTube here

Mockingbird Cafe Mumbai has a vibe of it’s own – wooden interiors, witty wall posts, great music and delicious food. When I was here, they did have the Hummus Festival going on in association with Chef’s Basket and because of this I did get to try out some hummus as well.

Mockingbird Cafe Mumbai

I started my meal with the hummus platter. This was essentially 3 different types of Hummus by Chef’s Basket along with some fresh and crispy Pita and Lavash from Mockingbird Cafe.

Mockingbird Cafe Mumbai

The first type of Hummus I tried was the garlic one. I would say that the garlic flavor was pretty prominent. However, I did feel that it lacked that nice creamy texture which for me is pretty essential for Hummus.

Mockingbird Cafe Mumbai

The next one was a Pesto flavored Hummus. Strong Pesto flavor – if you like that flavor then you will definitely enjoy this.

Mockingbird Cafe Mumbai

And the last one was the red pepper Hummus. It was actually the one that I liked the most. It did have that slight fiery after taste.

Mockingbird Cafe Mumbai

Next I tried the Mexican Hummus Salad. This had peppers, cherry tomatoes, green and black olives and lettuce and topped with some basil leaves. It had the garlic hummus mixed in it so there was a pretty mild but lingering flavor from that. A generous amount of black pepper was sprinkled on top which did add it’s own element to the salad.

Mockingbird Cafe Mumbai

Next I tried something called Mix Cheese Chilly. These were balls made of paneer, Mozarella and Cheddar cheese together. These fried balls were tossed in a hot Sri Racha Sauce which did have a mild hint of sweetness as well. Even some onions and peppers were tossed in there which did have a nice flavor of their own. I quite enjoyed this dish – if you eat the pops quickly you will enjoy their crunchiness. And the hot and spicy flavor of the sauce is easily toned down by all the cheese.

Mockingbird Cafe Mumbai

I also tried their stone baked Margherita Pizza. The sauce here was nice and tangy and the fluffy cheese and that sauce together felt like an awesome combination. The crust to me felt a tad bit chewy, but to be honest the sauce was way too delicious to notice that!

Mockingbird Cafe Mumbai

I also tried some of their Spaghetti Arrabiatta. Now this was literally perfect! Well done Spaghetti with the perfect slightly spicy, slightly tangy tomato sauce. It’s such a crucial dish, but not everyone can do it this well. I will definitely recommend this dish to any pasta lover!

Mockingbird Cafe Mumbai

I also enjoyed some drinks along with my meal. One of them was Summery Melon – fresh watermelon juice, some cranberry syrup and a hint of lime. It wasn’t over sweet but in fact extremely refreshing. You can also feel a tad bit of apple juice in it. I also tried another drink called Paradise. It had a very peculiar raspberry flavor which hits you almost instantly. It’s ingredients also include passion fruit juice, orange juice and apple juice. It’s topped with some mint leaves as well.

Mockingbird Cafe Mumbai

Mockingbird Cafe Mumbai

Finally for dessert, I indulged in some Flourless Chocolate Cake with some Vanilla Ice Cream. This comes slightly warm and is drizzled with chocolate all around. It’s not all that gooey but pretty delicious. The warmth from the cake and the cool ice cream really blend well together.

Mockingbird Cafe Mumbai

So that was it from my visit to the Mockingbird Cafe Mumbai and also my tryst with the Hummus Festival by Chef’s Basket. It was an absolute pleasure being hosted by Mockingbird Cafe and I hope to be back soon to try more of their food.

Papacream Oshiwara – Video & Review

Papacream Oshiwara
Papacream Oshiwara needs to be your destination for amazing ice cream and dessert if you are in and around Andheri. They recently launched their outlet here and it was such a full house when I visited.

Here’s a video tour of Papacream Oshiwara

Subscribe to my YouTube here

So what is Papacream Oshiwara all about? They are super famous for their liquid nitrogen ice cream which is pretty much made in front of you. The ingredients are fresh and they do some pretty good flavours too. Their standard flavours include Belgian Chocolate, Strawberry, Espresso, Sitaphal and their premium ones include some unique ones like Tiramisu, Salted Caramel and Bubblegum Candy floss. You will also find sorbets. Their Pani Puri Sorbet and Hummus Ice Cream are all over Instagram right now!

Papacream Oshiwara

I ended up trying the Cookiewich – this is essentially a cookie sandwich with Belgian Chocolate ice cream in between 2 chocolate chip cookies with fruit loops, caramel sauce and hot fudge. The cookies can feel slightly hard but the Belgian Chocolate Ice Cream inside along with fruit loops is such a heavenly combo.

Papacream Oshiwara

Papacream Oshiwara

I also tried their Belgian Waffle Sundae and it was delicious! They have bubble waffles in this which can feel so fluffy and light and that combined with chocolate ice cream, hot fudge, chocolate chips, caramel and cream can be so heavenly. I absolutely recommend this!

Papacream Oshiwara

I definitely can’t wait to visit Papacream once more and try out more stuff from them. Their new outlet in Andheri is surely something that you should try out. And if you are a SOBO person then their flagship store at Churchgate is still there.

Chaayos Lower Parel

Chaayos Lower Parel
Chaayos Lower Parel almost became a convenient ordering in and chai place for me. But off late, the quality seems to be a bit off the radar. Not just the quality – even the overall taste.

So here’s a summary of my most recent order from Chaayos Lower Parel.

From the Zomato exclusive winter menu, Kulhad Pav Bhaji

Chaayos Lower Parel

It comes in this earthen kulhad. And the portion size is pretty good. You get 2 Kulhad’s and 2 pavs.

vChaayos Lower Parel

The ingredients however feel aweful. It tastes like an over masaledaar subzi and that nice buttery taste that needs to be there in the bhaji seems missing. They do give you Amul Butter to go with it. But that’s not enough to cut it! And the bhaji had some peanuts in it! Which didn’t feel good at all. Even the Pav was super dry and almost crumbly.

Chaayos Lower Parel

Homestyle Upma – another one from the winter menu.

unadjustednonraw_thumb_1f2b

This just feels dry and mealy. No substance to it at all! It has some basic vaghaar and that’s about it. Just like a couple of really fine pieces of tomato and thats all.

Chaayos Lower Parel

Poha

Chaayos Lower Parel

I used to honestly quite like the poha from Chaayos earlier. It used to seem pretty hot and fresh and was quite tasty as well. This I would say was homestyle poha – fluffy and delicious. But what I got this time was just poha that was totally moist and really aweful tasting. Once poha is over cooked or re heated too many times it kind of gives away and that’s what this one felt like. And it’s not because I home delivered it – I’ve had poha from them via delivery almost all the time.

Desi Chai

Chaayos Lower Parel

Thankfully this they still do right. Desi Chai, chose kadak patti, dudh kam and adrak, mint and tulsi for a slightly nippy evening. Felt good after all the other stuff bombed! And their chai packaging is pretty impressive too. Carton kettle with a plastic twist cap and inside is another almost flat bottle kind of holder. And the chai has no leaks or spills. They do charge an additional 30 bucks for packaging though!

unadjustednonraw_thumb_1f31

Chaayos Lower Parel

Chaayos Lower Parel

So this was my most recent experience with Chaayos. I have rated them earlier on Zomato very highly (4.5) and now I’d change that to 3. To be honest, their chai got them to 3!

I hope you enjoyed reading. And let’s be in touch for more food stories.

Salads, Pizza and Pasta at 63 By-Lane, Kandivali East

63 By-Lane
63 By-Lane Pizza is a pretty new joint for Salads, Pizza and Pasta around Thakur village in Kandivali East. The place is kind of a blessing to anyone craving authentic stuff in this area.

I recently visited 63 By-Lane and tried out some of their stuff. Here’s a peek into everything I had.

Salads at 63 By-Lane

Salad No.10 – The Watermelon and Feta Salad

63 By-Lane

I started with this salad and was totally blown over in just the first bite. The sweet watermelon gives a tremendous burst of flavor and the mild natural bitterness from arugula blends really well with it. Balsamic vinegar adds a nice feel along with walnuts that are sweetened because of all the goodness from the mild dressing. Small bits of feta cheese just feel so delicious! The watermelon in this salad is deseeded – so additional brownie points for that!

63 By-Lane

Salad No.63 – Fresh Lettuce and Veggies

63 By-Lane

Lemon flavor, fresh iceberg lettuce along with quinoa – quite a wholesome combination! As if that wasn’t enough, there is a generous addition of vegetables too – olives, onions, peppers, tomatoes, corn and cucumber. The natural flavor of the veggies mixed with the mild lemon dressing and loads of heakthy seeds truly makes this a healthy yet delicious combo.

63 By-Lane

They have various salad combos or you can even try making your own salad with whatever you need. I highly recommend their Watermelon and Feta Cheese Salad.

63 By-Lane

Pizza at 63 By-Lane

Pizza No.63 – Multigrain Thin Crust with Veggies

63 By-Lane

Tomato sauce with a generous serving of mushrooms, baby corn, broccoli, spinach and onions. This pizza comes on a multigrain thin crust and can be pretty filling. The vegetables lend their own flavor and make this a pretty good choice.

63 By-Lane

Pizza No.91 – Paneer in Barbecue Sauce

63 By-Lane

The sweetness of the barbecue sauce goes really well with a perfectly crisp crust. The pizza has soft paneer pieces that melt in your mouth. This combined with the generous amount of capsicum and onion on top makes this an ideal pizza for anyone who loves pizza with a slight Indian twist.

63 By-Lane

Pizza No.89 – Margherita

63 By-Lane

This particular pizza did little for me, to be honest. Somehow that nice sweet and tangy flavor which is synonymous with margherita was absent. Also the crust felt slightly chewy.

Pizza No.04 – 4 Cheese

63 By-Lane

A very good attempt here. Perfectly crisp crust. And no weird smelly after taste from all the different cheese. I normally don’t enjoy a 4 Cheese pizza, but this one did make an exception. Mozarella, Cheddar, Gouda and Monterey jack on a layer of Alfredo Sauce.

All of their Pizza Sauce and Base is made in house. You can literally design your own pizza here – pick a sauce, toppings and crust. And there are plenty of options if you prefer Jain as well. And – you don’t get charged per topping!

63 By-Lane

Pasta at 63 By-Lane

Pasta No.63 – Mushroom Sauce

63 By-Lane

Spaghetti in a creamy and cheesy Alfredo sauce along with mushrooms and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. For anyone who doesn’t mind mushrooms and loves a good cheesy spaghetti, this one’s your dish.

63 By-Lane

Pasta No.10 – Pesto Sauce

63 By-Lane

I’m not the biggest fan of Pesto sauce and this one was pretty okayish! The Pesto flavor wasn’t very in your face (read mouth) and the sauce overall wasn’t all that creamy too.

63 By-Lane

Pasta No.16 – Pomodoro Sauce

63 By-Lane

There are very few things that I enjoy more than a mild tomato and basil pasta – just the flavor of San Marzano tomatoes and Basil leaves along with some olive oil means soul food to me. And somehow that’s not what this Pomodoro Sauce Pasta did for me. The sauce and the flavors, everything was basically really underwhelming. I did like the fact that they maintained their pasta al dente. But I do feel that the sauce was missing that tangy tomato flavor.

63 By-Lane

Pasta No.02 – Pink Sauce

63 By-Lane

Because the tomato sauce here overall felt very subdued, in kind of became a bit more apparent in this Pink Sauce Pasta. Pink sauce pasta is like goodness in a serving – creamy cheesy flavor and the sweet and sour feel of tomatoes together. This one doesn’t do justice at all.

63 By-Lane

All of their pasta is made right in front of you – so you can be rest assured of hygiene and quality. And of course – ask for Jain options if you need to.

63 By-Lane

Drinks at 63 By-Lane

Fresh Lime Water with Chia Seeds

63 By-Lane

Homestyle fresh lime – slightly sweet, slightly sour, along with chia seeds that give a subtle yet noticeable twist. I absolutely love the feel of chia and just adding it to fresh lime makes such a difference. And they also add a couple of tulsi leaves which just gives that hint of flavor.

Chilled Lemon Tea

63 By-Lane

This is refreshing any day! Sweet tea and lemon is a combination that you can’t go wrong with. Do try this out.

Their beverages are done in house too and I absolutely recommend that you order one with your meal. These feel really good.

Overall, the food at 63 By-Lane kind of pulls towards the extremes for me – there was stuff like the salads, beverages and the barbecue pizza that I really enjoyed. And then there was stuff that I didn’t care for very much. I do feel this place has a lot of potential and is definitely a blessing for the are in which it operates.

Do try it out and let me know how you liked it!
