Cadbury Oreo Silk – The Best Silk Yet?

Cadbury Oreo Silk
Cadbury Oreo Silk is probably one of the best variants in the Silk range. I just don’t seem to be able to stop eating it!

Cadbury Oreo Silk

I was invited to the launch of Cadbury Oreo Silk and it was such a fun event. So many foodies and also Chef Michael Swamy. The event included some really interesting ways to use Cadbury Oreo Silk to make other desserts, salads and so much more.

Cadbury Oreo Silk

So here you can see the different dishes we learnt to make using the Cadbury Oreo Silk. These were mostly prepared by or under the supervision of Chef Michael Swamy. It was indeed a pleasure seeing him work. Also, the aroma of chocolate was taking over the whole place so it was indeed difficult for me to keep my concentration on the preparation method alone!

Cadbury Oreo Silk

Cadbury Oreo Silk

Cadbury Oreo Silk

Cadbury Oreo Silk

The key takeaway here for me was the versatility of the Cadbury Oreo Silk. It was something that tasted good with any pairing. We tried it with strawberries, it was a hit. We tried it in a salad, it tasted delicious. So it’s not just a pure chocolate bar; it’s also something that can be used as an ingredient in more dishes.

Cadbury Oreo Silk

In terms of taste, I do feel that this is the best Silk variant out there. Mainly because it has Oreo and Chocolate Silk coming together. It’s like the best of everything! There’s a whole lot of crunch and that signature Silk chocolate feel, which is pretty unique. I also like that this doesn’t feel overly sweet – I know we’re talking about Chocolate here but there is definitely a sweet threshold!

Cadbury Oreo Silk

I strongly urge you to try out the Cadbury Oreo Silk, if you haven’t already. It’s pretty damn delicious. And can be used to add a crunchy edge to any dish!

Let me know which is your favorite chocolate in the comments below!

Rajendra Fast Food Borivali

Rajendra Fast Food
This one’s from my visit to Rajendra Fast Food Borivali.

Rajendra Fast Food Borivali is a really famous, landmark level place to grab some reasonable yet delicious food. Their dosa, Chinese, Sandwich is pretty famous. Here’s a video from a trip that I made to Rajendra Fast Food!

Subscribe to my YouTube here

I hope you enjoyed watching this little snippet from my visit to Rajendra Fast Food.

I ordered only 1 item here – the Mysore Masala Dosa. You saw that being made, right from scratch in the video. They used a ton of beetroot to make it and honestly it turned out pretty good. I wouldn’t call it my most favorite mysore masala, but it was decent.

Rajendra Fast Food

You get a variety of Chindian food here as well – everything ranging from schezwan rice, to hakka noodles to manchurian. And you will see the guy toss it all up right in front of you. I find it really fascinating to this watch stuff getting made.

Rajendra Fast Food

You also have various chaat items here – ranging from Pani Puri to Bhelpuri.

And you also can get Dabeli here. I didn’t end up trying any this time, but hopefully I will try it next time.

And their sandwich counter looked so attractive!

Rajendra Fast Food

I also saw a whole variety of other South Indian items. This includes idli, vadas and umpteen different kind of uttappas and dosas.

Rajendra Fast Food

They have a counter outside, where you can see all the items getting prepared and you just need to get a coupon and place your order. You can stand out and eat or take a seat in their pretty humble seating area.

This place has something for everyone. I recommend checking it out.

Persian Food Festival at Namak Sahara Star

Namak Sahara Star
A first for me – trying out Persian Food at Namak Sahara Star!

So I was invited to try out some Persian Fare at Namak Sahara Star and my first response was like am I even going to find anything vegetarian there. I did manage to gather some courage to try this out; I am normally not that enthusiastic about trying out an entirely new cuisine, without some mandatory recommendations. So let’s quickly take a peek into what I had on my visit to the Persian Food Festival at Namak Sahara Star.

Welcome drink

Namak Sahara Star
This was sweet Saffron water and it was served cold but not chilled.

Tomato, Carrot and Barley Soup

Namak Sahara Star
This had a very different flavor as compared to a regular tomato soup that I enjoy. It felt really wholesome because of the barley and carrot and tomato together do have a prominent flavor. Absolutely loved the potato wedge dunked inside the soup.

Falafel Abadan

Namak Sahara Star
A mega crunchy falafel and this was made from Chickpea, potato, capsicum and cumin.

Zaffrani Paneer Kebab

Namak Sahara Star
One of the softest paneer chunks I have had. This was amazing. It had a rich flavor from saffron, pista and olive oil.

Mavoha Tanur

Namak Sahara Star
These were basically grilled apple, pineapple and pear with like a hint of spices and sumac powder. I loved the grilled pineapple in this.

All the kebabs and appetizers were served with these delicious dips that I just couldn’t put down.

Namak Sahara Star

Dal Ada

Namak Sahara Star
The Persian Black Dal – it was not sweet and creamy but instead had a mild hot after taste. This is made along with potato, olive oil and garlic.
Paneer Fasenjan

Namak Sahara Star
A gravy with really soft cottage cheese cubes. The gravy was made from pomegranate, powdered walnuts and mild spices.

Kashuk-E-Badmejan

Namak Sahara Star
This was eggplant in a gravy made from milk powder, onion, walnut and saffron. So it had a pretty distinct taste.

I enjoyed my mains with some Naan-E-Kirmari and Naan-E-Barbari. Naan-E-Kirmari I loved in particular as it had an amazing flavor of some herbs and some sesame seeds.

Namak Sahara Star

Halwa-E-Sheer

Namak Sahara Star

This was my dessert. It felt like a rich Sindhi homemade sweetdish. It was served piping hot and was made from milk and dry fruit, including pistachios.

I was pretty surprised by the amount of vegetarian dishes that this Persian Food Festival had. And to be quite honest, I didn’t regret coming for this at all. In fact, I did end up liking a lot of things – like the soup, the dal, the falafel and the dessert. What I loved is that the food really has a prominent flavor from the main ingredients and doesn’t really have too much of masalas which make it really good for me.

I hope you enjoyed reading this. Do check out the Persian Food Festival in case you are interested.

Here is where you can find all the details.

New Menu at LIMA BKC

LIMA BKC
Sometime in February, I checked out the new menu at LIMA BKC. For those of you who aren’t aware, LIMA is a South American restaurant in Bandra Kurla Complex and serves specifically, Peruvian food. Trying authentic Peruvian food was a unique experience in itself, given that it was pretty much the first time for me.

LIMA BKC

The interiors are beautifully done at LIMA BKC and at night, it can turn into a nice cozy set up. Dim lights, a fancy bar and the ambience totally worked for me.

LIMA BKC

Coming to the food, here’s what I tried at LIMA BKC

LIMA BKC

I started with this Grape Drink which was such a beautiful purple color. It was amazingly sweet and a tiny bit bitter just like black grapes are. I also feel it had some kiwi in it. I enjoyed it.

I also gorged on their Tacos which were delicious. They were served with 3 very interesting dips – a salsa sauce made from Green Tomatoes, a regular Tomato salsa and some sour cream.

LIMA BKC

LIMA BKC

Next I had this Butter and Corn Zuppa, which felt like a warm and soothing, yet tasty corn broth. I quite enjoyed this.

LIMA BKC

Another dish that I thoroughly was the Green Peas and Potato Quesadilla. These are made from refined flour and the the filling has a prominent taste. This is further enhance with the cheese that feels wonderful.

LIMA BKC

Next I had something like a corn and cheese spring roll and this was called the Chimi Changa.

LIMA BKC

I also tried their Sweet Potato Gratin. It had an extremely overpowering sour taste which I didn’t quite enjoy.

But something that I did enjoy was the Bean stew and Mexican Rice. It was rice with beans in a tomato gravy.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_2f1b

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_2f1a

And this was followed by something called Chilaquiles which was a baked Mexican dish. This too was tomato based and had beans and cheese. I love this combination!

LIMA BKC

Finally it was time for some dessert; so I started with something very familiar looking. This was something called After 9 – a chocolate and mint pastry. This was thick and dense, and the flavor of mint was spot on. However I did find it a tad bit chewy. This is the same After 9 that you get at Theobroma – however I am not sure if there is any relation between the two!

LIMA BKC

I also tried the Blue Berry Cheesecake which was really good.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_2f1e

LIMA BKC

So all in all, LIMA BKC was a pretty interesting experience for me. It was fun trying out this kind of cuisine for the first time. Also since this was an FBAI Soiree, I was in the company of so many fellow foodies and that made the evening even more enjoyable!

LIMA BKC

I hope you enjoyed reading this. Do visit LIMA BKC for a fancy yet interesting South American dining experience. Stay tuned for my next post.

Lassi Te Parrontthe – The Best Aloo Paratha in Mumbai

Lassi Te Parrontthe
If you’ve been following me for a while, you would probably already know that my heart skips a beat everytime I think about Lassi Te Parrontthe. It’s one of my most favorite places to eat..like EVER!

Lassi Te Parrontthe

Lassi Te Parrontthe, for those of you who are new, is a a place at Carter Road in Mumbai. You get different varieties of Parathas here – ranging from aloo, to gobi, to methi to paneer and probably few more. The parathas are delicious, to say the least. And what I personally admire is the  dedication with which the owner Nikhil Thakur a.k.a. Parronttha Man from Carters makes these. Watch this video from my visit to Lassi Te Parrontthe and you will know what I’m talking about.

Subscribe to my YouTube here

I hope after watching the video you understand the level of parathas I’m talking about.

The stuffing in these parathas is literally spot on. I’ll tell you about my favorite one here – the aloo and it has a delicious flavor from masalas like dhaniya powder. And the parathas are also cooked to perfection. A lot of times while eating parathas outside I find that there is a spot either towards the extreme sides or where the stuffing is really heavy that feels kinda uncooked. But not with the ones I’ve had at Lassi Te Parrontthe.

Lassi Te Parrontthe

The parathas are served with Dahi that comes in a kulhad which seems pretty fresh and not at all sour. And some pickle too. You also get some chhaas and lassi here.

Lassi Te Parrontthe

When you visit Lassi Te Parrontthe, you will pretty much see the main Parronttha Man getting the parathas ready. And just watching him make them can be so cool.

Lassi Te Parrontthe

Highly recommend this place.

I hope you enjoyed watching and reading about my experience at Lassi Te Parrontthe. Let me know if you visit the place. Would love to know how you liked it.

The Yellow Chilli Dadar – New in Town!

Yellow Chilli Dadar
The Yellow Chilli Dadar is Chef Sanjeev Kapoor’s offering to this part of Mumbai. Dadar has a variety of interesting places to eat, and this one located in Star Mall is definitely a place that needs to be on your must visit list

Adapting to the area and the people is what The Yellow Chilli Dadar promises. It was very interesting for me to be a part of the launch gig of The Yellow Chilli Dadar and in this blog post I’m going to take you through my experience.

Yellow Chilli DadarFirstly, let me start by paying my due respect to Chef Sanjeev Kapoor. He literally became the star for anyone with a keen sense of trying out recipes or learning new tips and tricks in the kitchen. I still remember my mom watching Khana Khazana and trying so many of his recipes. And it was the first time, at this event that I got to see this inspiring figure in person. He is a man of many words, ever joyful and extremely humble. And I’m probably one of the lucky ones to watch him in his musical element as well.

Yellow Chilli Dadar

Yellow Chilli Dadar

Coming to The Yellow Chilli Dadar, it’s a place where you will definitely find delicious food to suit local flavors. So things like a Batata Vada Bao (a bao instead of a pav), a Misal Bruschetta (misal on a toast) and even interesting twists like a Grape and Strawberry Sangria are some of the things that you can expect here.

Yellow Chilli Dadar

As you can see from the pictures, I’ve had yet another hog fest. Items that I absolutely loved were the Dahi Bhalla, Sarson Ka Saag, Adraki Dhaniya Paneer, Nizami Tarkari Biryani, Gajar ka Halwa and lots more.

Definitely expect a huge round of over-eating when you are at The Yellow Chilli. Their food is quite tasty and I’m sure there will be many dishes that you will find repeat worthy.

All in all I had a great time attending the launch. And it was really sweet of the Team at The Yellow Chilli Dadar to present this special recipe book and this bottle of pickle that I’m going to relish with my meals.

It Happened In New York – Bandra

It Happened In New York
It Happened In New York Bandra, is a beautiful restaurant situated at Chapel Road. It opened in December 2016 and I was invited to sample the food there.

Here’s a video from my visit to It Happened In New York. I hope you enjoy it!

It Happened In New York is a one of a kind experience in Mumbai. You rarely come across a place to eat which is as huge as this one.

It Happened In New York

The interiors of It Happened In New York are very interesting. So the entry level houses a huge community table. I absolutely love the concept as it can be used by larger groups as a whole or even individuals looking to catch a meal alone. The next level is a beautiful seating area in which you will find super stylish chairs and sofa tables along with huge windows that offer a city view.

It Happened In New York

It Happened In New York offers signature American Food. I tried quite a few items here, including their version of the Peanut-Butter-Jelly sandwich, Bagels, Spaghetti, Nachos and of course American Style Cheese Cake! And of course all of it was extremely savoury. And expect their bar man to stir up a great drink too. I tried something called the Santana Sour and absolutely enjoyed it.

Minus 301 Degrees F – Ice Cream Rolls and more

Minus 301 Degrees F
My love for dessert took me to Minus 301 Degrees F in Bandra. They served freshly made ice cream rolls in some pretty interesting flavors. And some other types of dessert as well.

Want to check out exactly what happens at Minus 301 Degrees F? Watch this video!

Subscribe to my YouTube here

Minus 301 Degrees F has multiple outlets across Mumbai, and this time I visited the one in Bandra. Since it was my first time here and I had already heard so much about their ice cream, I was super excited to try it out.

At Minus 301 Degrees F, you will find a variety of flavors right from fruit to chocolate to some interesting ones like cinnamon, paan and bubblegum. Being a total sucker for paan flavored dessert, I decided to try their Paan Ice Cream rolls. And they were absolutely flavorful. Minty green in color and topped with some dried paan leaves, they totally aped the gulkand and sounf flavors.

Minus 301 Degrees F

Another one that I tried at Minus 301 Degrees F is the Chilli Guava Ice Cream. This one was that nice Peru flavor along with red chilli powder on top. Such a trip down memory lane.

Minus 301 Degrees F

Next I tried their Bubblegum flavor. It was a good mix between a candy floss flavor and a fruity one. I topped it with loads of sprinkles and jelly cubes and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Minus 301 Degrees F

I also tried the Chocolate Hazelnut flavor at Minus 301 Degrees F and this was extremely creamy. Chocolate lovers definitely should try this.

Minus 301 Degrees F

What I like about Minus 301 Degrees F is that their flavor range is interesting. This particular outlet at Linking Road, Bandra does have a good seating area so that takes care of the wait time. And personally, I love watching the whole creation process of these Ice Cream Rolls. Definitely visit them!

For me fudge is synonymous with Coopers in Lonavla. But Oh!Fudge is definitely offering some really interesting fudge flavors right here at Carter Road. And you can have it in the form of shakes, sundaes or even just plain fudge. My recommended flavors are coffee, chocolate and mint, dark chocolate and hazelnut.
