Natures Basket Little Chefs
Godrej Nature’s Basket recently had a fun event where kids got to learn some really interesting recipes.

Amrita Kaur, who is known for her interesting healthy recipes was conducting this workshop at Godrej Nature’s Basket at Hill Road, Bandra – Mumbai.

Natures Basket Little Chefs

Godrej Nature’s Basket in Bandra has a nice spacious basement, which was turned into a workshop area. Kids were assigned their work stations and were taught some really interesting recipes. These included the Rainbow Nice Cream, a no-bake Mango Cheesecake Tart and a Rainbow Noodles Salad.

Natures Basket Little Chefs

All the kids were really excited and enthusiastic, and it was amazing to see that they wanted to learn all of this at such a young age. And Amrita Kaur was being her charming self and she totally got all of them involved and interested in learning these recipes.

The workshop lasted about 2 hours and each child got to take home their creation. And the happiness on their faces to see the end result of something they created, was so apparent.

Gardner Street Tea – My Experience

Gardner Street Tea Packaging
The first time I ordered Gardner Street Tea, I didn’t know that it would be so luxurious.

Beautiful packaging and indulgent flavors is how I describe my experience with Gardner Street Tea. Keep reading if you want to know about my favorites from their offerings.

Gardner Street Tea Jasmine Green Tea

Gardner Street Tea comes in this beautiful tin packaging, which is kind of similar to a lot of high end Green Tea brands. Each variant has a symbolic color and the packaging brings that out really well.

Gardner Street Tea Tea Bag

The tea is premium whole leaf, and actually comes in these silken tea bags which elevate the whole experience. For me, it’s like walking into a fancy tea house and sipping on some interesting flavor, but in the comfort of my own home!

Gardner Street Tea Green Tea

Gardner Street has a whole lot of flavors but I’ve tried some from the Signature Collection and some from their Wellness Collection.

Chinese Whispers

Gardner Street Tea Chinese Whispers

This is a Jasmine flavored Green Tea and belongs to their signature collection. The flavor of Jasmine in subtle, yet very noticeable. And honestly, that’s how I love Jasmine Tea. It has anti-oxidant and calming properties which instantly put me in a much better mood.

Moroccan Mint

Gardner Street Tea Mint Tea

This is another one from their signature collections and is actually a caffeine free formula. It contains cinnamon, chicory, orange peel, spearmint leaves, liquorice, safflower petals and natural mint flavor, It’s color is a more deeper brown, and it does have a strong mint feel to it.

Glow

Gardner Street Tea Glow

This one is from their wellness collection and it claims to clear the skin. Green tea is known for it’s skin clearing properties. And this one contains hibiscus, marigold, orange peel and melon flavor, in addition to whole leaf green tea. It has a light color and a very subtle flavor. It’s got a reddish color.

Detox

Gardner Street Tea Detox

Another one from their wellness collection, this one claims to clear the toxins and promotes wellbeing. It has a strong flavor from ginger and natural lemongrass. This one is my absolute favorite. I love ginger, and this does work wonders.

I highly recommend trying out any of these from Gardner Street. I have been in the habit of having Green Tea every morning and have actually tried and tested each one of these. All of them have amazing flavor.

Vortex South

Vortex South Kebab
Vortex South is yet another name in the all vegetarian bars that South Mumbai seems to be buzzing with.

The interiors are pretty interesting. It kinda seemed to me that Vortex South could even be a cool co-working space during the day- at least it seemed that way from their design. I came here for dinner recently and was quite happy with my food. Here is a sneak peek of everything I tried at Vortex South.

Tomato Basil Soup

Vortex South Tomato Basil Soup

If I see this on the menu, chances are that I’m trying it out! And it wasn’t a let down at all. Good consistency and flavor.

Assorted Kebab Platter

Vortex South Paneer

The staff at Vortex South was kind enough to serve an assorted kebab platter to me, so that I would get to sample the most. And i liked a lot of these.

The Cornobell was amazing. It was a seekh kebab with corn and bell peppers.

Cheddar Babies were delicious too. Basically baby potatoes with cheese and a heavy basil flavor.

Kaveri – this was paneer tikka with a massive curry leaf flavor.

Khatta is the new spice – a mildly sour kind of twist to paneer tikka.

There were more too. But the ones listed above were the best.

Cheese Burst Pizza

Vortex South Cheese Burst

You can see the cheese burst right here – it was a total overdose of cheese.

And the amount of veggie toppings was seriously generous! The sauce was slightly home-style, but honestly I didn’t mind it.

Masala Pasta

Vortex South Masala Pasta

I’ve never really enjoyed a white sauce pasta. And call me Desi, but this one with all the right masalas totally worked for me 🙂

Triple Schezwan Rice

Vortex South Triple Schezwan

This was amazing – that proper old-style Indian-Chinese flavor was so spot on!

Sizzling Brownie

Vortex South sizzling brownie

The brownie didn’t feel old, but in fact was perfectly warm. And the sheer size of the brownie chunk – it was enormous!

Berry Mist

Vortex South Cocktails

This is an all berry drink – different berry juices and slushes together. So it has a very tarty taste – something I love.

Lava FlowVortex South Mocktails

This is like a Banana and Coconut Cream drink. If you love these, then you will enjoy this.

So that was it from my visit to Vortex South. Do try out the place if you are in the area.

Thank you so much for reading and stay tuned for my next post. XOXO!

Vegetarian Food at Broaster Chicken Bandra

Broaster Chicken Bandra Vegetarian
If you’re a vegetarian and heading to Broaster Chicken Bandra, then let me guide you on a few things that you can order 🙂

Top Vegetarian Recommendations at Broaster Chicken Bandra

Butter Garlic Potatoes

Broaster Chicken Bandra Butter Garlic Fries

Fries tossed with a generous amount of butter and garlic. Butter and garlic together is an enticing combination for me. I also love fries so together this tastes really good.

Tex Mex

Broaster Chicken Bandra Tex Mex

Full on nachos kind of flavor – jalapeno, olives, tomatoes, onions, salsa. Toss some fries in this, and that probably explains this dish! Eat these really quick as the fries become a little bit soggy because of all the veggies. But overall, really flavorful.

Pink Sauce Pasta

Broaster Chicken Bandra Pink Sauce Pasta

Just Pasta and Sauce – no veggies in this one. The sauce is neither too creamy nor to tangy. Pretty good flavor. It’s served with 2 pieced of garlic bread which was nice and crisp.

The Brick Shake

Broaster Chicken Bandra Dessert

A cup made out of chocolate filled with chocolate bricks! And if that wasn’t enough already, you will also find some more mousse kind of chocolate inside. Very indulgent!

Raspberry Shake

Broaster Chicken Bandra Raspberry Shake

A very no nonsense kinda shake. Comes in a beer bottle though!

Chulbul Soda

Broaster Chicken Bandra Chulbul Soda

Perfect for a hot summer afternoon. It’s their version of Masala Thumbs Up.

Broaster Chicken Bandra Reclamation

As a vegetarian, you shouldn’t worry about coming to this place. Yes the name and a whole lot of the menu spells CHICKEN but there is enough and more good vegetarian food that you can have here. The ambience is quite rustic – high chairs and wooden tables. They have a decent selection of music too. All in all, quite a good hangout. And even the food is pretty good.

Delicious Frozen Beverages in Bandra

Cool Story Bandra Jeera Lemonade

I discovered Cool Story when I visited Mexican Express! They share the same store.

Cool Story serves fresh beverages – ranging from smoothies, tea, lattes and most of them are frozen. I was quite intrigued by their offerings and decided to try some of their frozen drinks.

I ordered 2 drinks – the Berry Happy Together Frocktail and the Desi Lemonade with a Jeera twist.

Let me first tell you about Berry Happy Together. They aren’t kidding when they say frozen beverages – it is really that. So be prepared for way too much ice! But, their flavor, freshness of the ingredients and combinations are totally worth it. Berry Happy Together was a mix of berries – strawberry, blueberries, raspberries along with lemonade and some basil. I love a good berry drink and this one was pretty awesome too! Mixed berries have a nice tarty flavour and combine that with the sweet and sour nature of lemonade, you get this amazing taste. Of course, all of this is frozen so the the drink feels extremely refreshing, especially in this weather.

Cool Story Bandra Berry Happy Together

Next I tried their Lemonade with some Jeera. Just think of a nice desi nimbu paani – which is sweet and salted, and has some masalas and jeera powder. This is just that – only frozen. I absolutely loved it.

When you visit their outlet, don’t miss their little vertical herb garden right outside the door. They grow their own herbs, like basil and a lot more. And their ingredients definitely feel super fresh.

Highly recommend trying out this place. Loads of variety – you will definitely find something interesting. And also, it’s a perfect stop for that break in between shopping in Bandra!

Thank you so much for reading and stay tuned for my next post. XOXO!

Black Dessert now in Mumbai

Icekraft Waffles

My love for dessert took me to Icekraft once again. Honestly, this time it was more curiosity than love.

The Team at Icekraft said that they were introducing Black Dessert – Black Ice Cream and Black Waffles and I just really wanted to try it. So I went there and filmed this video of me trying out Black Dessert. Watch it and I hope you enjoy it.

Like this video? Subscribe to my YouTube here

I hope you enjoyed watching this video from my trip to Icekraft.

So let’s take a look at what I had, once again.

Firstly, BLACK ICE CREAM!

This ice cream tastes as gorgeous as it looks. Somehow, I never associate Black with dessert, but thanks to Icekraft, my opinion stands changed. This tasted amazing – chocolate, fresh cream – I mean what’s not to like!

And then there were these black waffles – which were absolutely delicious too. These felt like a little dark chocolate mixed with orange. I love that combination!

So do you need to worry about the Black in Black Ice Cream – like what is it? Is it safe for consumption? Is it color? So the simple answer to all of this is NO. You don’t need to worry. The Black in Black ice cream is actually activated charcoal. And Activated Charcoal has so many health benefits. Here’s listing a few:

  • Reduces Gas and Bloating
  • Helps alleviate alcohol poisoning and cures hangovers
  • Get’s rid of toxins in the body
  • It’s an all round digestive cleanser

So, now that you are assured that Black Ice Cream is all good, definitely go and indulge yourself in the ones available at Icekraft.

I hope you enjoyed watching the video and reading about everything I ate. What is the weirdest Ice Cream you have eaten? Let me know below!

Also if you want me to review any particular places in the city, then let me know and I will try and visit them for you.

XOXO

Shweta!

Did Mumbai Just Find It’s Chipotle?

Mexican Express Quesadilla
Mexican Express, a cute joint in Khar serves you American ‘Chipotle’ style food. You can have tortillas, tacos and also the Burrito Bowl here.

Bandra-Khar area is filled with tonnes of tiny but drool worthy places. And Mexican Express completely fits that bill. It’s cozy, serves delicious food and it did remind me of my time in Chipotle from my travel to America. Chipotle is a quick-meal joint and serves Mexican food at a pretty reasonable price. Compared to other chains, it’s healthier and also has a good amount of vegetarian options.

I tried a whole lot of things at Mexican Express and here’s what I feel you need to have:

Black Bean and Corn Tacos

Mexican Express Tacos

Crisp tacos with a delicious filling. The filling consists of salsa, guacamole, cheese and salad and of course Black Beans! Really good flavor, albeit a tiny bit spicy.

Burrito Bowl

Mexican Express Burrito

This is what I would eat at Chipotle so I was really keen to try it out here. And I wasn’t disappointed at all!

Chips and Salsa

Mexican Express Nachos

Mildly flavored chips and some salsa. I do feel that the salsa could have been a little more tangy.

Quesadilla with Fajita Vegetables

Mexican Express Quesadilla

This is filled with a ton of cheese and veggies.

Churros

Mexican Express Churros

I ended this Mexican affair with some freshly done churros and these were really good.

I do recommend trying out Mexican Express. There are very few Mexican outlets in the city that go out of their way to try and get a particular level of Mexican food here. And these guys are definitely serving some good food. And it’s amazing to know that they started out as a pop-up in exhibitions and popular events and have now set up their own eatery. So do go ahead and give them a try.

P.S. -I couldn’t help but notice how similar their logo is to Chipotle!

Thank you so much for reading and stay tuned for my next post. XOXO!

Washington Apples in India!

Washington Apples in India Juicy Red
YES – You can have Washington Apples in India!

The Washington Apple Commission recently hosted an event talking about the benefits of consuming Washington Apples in India. This event was in association with the FBAI. I absolutely love these events hosted by the FBAI, because it’s a good mix of like-minded folks coming together and talking about interesting topics. The event was hosted at the beautiful St.Regis Hotel which does provide a spectacular sunset view of the city.

Chef Himanshu Taneja was also present at the event and he demonstrated the versatility of the Washington Apples – you could use it in cooking, baking and so much more. In fact, the spread that they laid out for us at the event, pretty much used the Washington Apple as one of the ingredients.

Washington Apples in India Recipe

Washington Apples in India Recipes

I’m not the biggest fan of apples in general, but Washington Apples have a special place in my heart. I remember eating these on some of my trips to the U.S. and that’s actually where I began to like apples. We received some apples on attending this event and I was totally reminded of the ones I had on my trips.

Apples are actually really good for health. That age old saying is true and here’s what Apples do:

  • Fight Diseases
  • Reduce risk of Cancer, Cholestrol, Heart Disease, Diabetes, Alzheimer’s and Asthma
  • Improve Brain Health
  • High on Fiber
  • Good for Digestion
  • Promote Weightloss
  • No Fat
  • No Cholestrol

Apples come in 5 varieties:

Red Delicious

Washington Apples in India Red

Golden Delicious

Washington Apples in India Golden Delicious

Granny Smith

Washington Apples in India Granny Smith

Gala

Washington Apples in India Gala Apple

Fuji

Washington Apples in India Fuji

Washington apples are special because they come from Washington, which is known to have the most fertile land for the best available apples. It’s indeed a good thing that we can enjoy these Washington Apples in India as well.

Apples are definitely not my most favorite fruit, but seeing all of the advantages I’m definitely going to try and get some at least a few times a week.

Do you love apples? Have you tried Washington Apples in India? Let me know in the comments below!

XOXO

Raju Chinese – Mumbai Street Chinese

Raju chinese
If you’ve studied in H.R. or Jai Hind College, you know the craze for Raju Chinese is real.

Want to know what I ate on my last visit to Raju Chinese? Watch this!

Subscribe to my YouTube here

So that was Raju Chinese. Definitely visit the place if you haven’t already!

And here are my recommendations on what you should be eating here:

Dry Manchurian

Raju chinese

I am not the biggest fan of just dry manchurian, but the ones at Raju Chinese are a sure exception. Amazing flavor and a prominent taste of ginger and garlic. I can just eat these all by themselves!

Schezwan Rice

Raju chinese

Spicy Schezwan Rice served with a little Manchurian Gravy, some schezwan sauce and fried noodles.

Chilli Cheese Roll

Raju chinese

Delicious sauce, warm toasted bread and cheese – all in a roll! Definitely recommend this.

Raju chinese

You could eat anything from their menu, and I guarantee that it will be fresh and tasty. This place has maintained the same level of taste since I first started eating from here in 2004. At that time, Raju Chinese was located inside H.R. College in Churchgate and was also known as H.R. Chinese. My friends and I would specially go over to H.R. just to grab some of this delicious stuff! And the things we had to do to get inside the college (because we weren’t students of H.R.) would all feel worth it, once we had the first bite of some of this stuff. Now the place has moved pretty close to Marine Lines and Nirmala Niketan College. It’s all vegetarian and arguably one of the best street Chinese food in Mumbai.

Raju chinese

I hope you enjoyed reading this post and watching the video. Do visit Raju Chinese and let me know how you liked it.

I would love to stay in touch. So do hit me up on my social media.
