If you love South Indian food then you will absolutely love the food in Udupi. A lot of places here are iconic and known to contribute heavily to the ‘udupi restaurant’ culture, that is now prevalent in so many cities.

Here is your quick guide to Udupi food

Mitra Samaj

This place is known as the birth place of Masala dosa. You have to visit this place if you are in Udupi. Apart from Masala Dosa, I recommend trying their Mangalore buns, gobi bajje and pineapple sheer.

Woodlands

Another old and famous place in Udupi. They serve quite a variety now – north Indian and south Indian. However, I recommend trying out their thali meal and also their Moode idli.

MTR

This one started in Bengaluru and now has branches even internationally. If you want to try a true Karnataka inspired South Indian Thali then this is the place. Watch this video to know more about my Mavalli Tiffin Rooms or MTR Thali experience.

Diana

This place is famous to be the birthplace of Gadbad ice cream. Wondering what that is? One of the most famous desserts in Udupi. Watch this video to know everything about Gadded ice cream and also other items that cannot be missed at Diana restaurant.

Coffee shop of Samanvay Boutique Hotel

I ended up trying the breakfast buffet here on one of my visit to Udupi and I was impressed! Their breakfast included so many authentic south Udupi style dishes and were also really delicious. Watch this video to know more about this experience.

Those are all the places that need to be on your  must visit list in Udupi.
