Binge eating day

binge eating day
A typical binge eating day for me is one where I’m consuming more junk than healthy food.

One such binge eating day happened very recently and you can watch this video about it here.

Subscribe to my Youtube channel here

My day starts of really well. I usually consume a fruit and almonds and some dry fruit – either dates or figs. And this is followed by some tea with biscuits.

As you saw in the video, lunch was at a place called Yauatcha in Bandra Kurla Complex. Yauatcha is a well known Asian fine dining restaurant in Mumbai and serves really good food. While I relished their turnip cakes and noodles, what I can’t seem to get off my mind is their dessert. They have such a beautiful dessert spread. I tried something called the Chocolate Pebble and it was a delicious dark chocolate and brownie dessert. So indulgent!

For me nothing beats a good biryani. So my friend decided to make some yummy Palak (spinach) biryani for dinner and it was relished by all of us. I’m definitely going to try making it on my own soon.

Lastly, what’s a binge eating day without Maggi?! So in this video you will see my version of vegetable Masala Maggi and it has fried potatoes, onions, tomatoes, capsicum and lots of Indian spices. Do try making it and I’m sure you will enjoy it.

So that was most of my binge eating day. I would love to know what you guys indulge in on your binge eating days. Do let me know in the comments below.

You can watch this video of some of my other favorite asian restaurants in Mumbai.

Must Try Thalis in Mumbai

thalis in Mumbai
Thalis for me are an indulgence – one platter with so much variety!

If you love your meals with at least 10 different items, and an unlimited portion then here are the absolute must try thalis in Mumbai.

Shree Thaker Bhojanalay

thalis in Mumbai

Undoubtedly the best Gujarati thali I’ve ever had. This place has been around since 1945 and actually started off serving a basic homestyle Gujarati meal. Even now, their food is made with the best ingredients, desi ghee and a lot of love and you need to indulge in this at least once. They serve thalis everyday for lunch and dinner. Their thali costs Rs.500 on weekdays and Rs.600 on Sunday and it is worth every penny. It includes subzis, dal, kadhi, different types of roti, papad, farsan, rice/pulao, khichdi, sweet dish, buttermilk and curd. And the taste is impeccable.

Watch my video experience of Shree Thaker Bhojanalay here

Delhi Highway

thalis in Mumbai

One of the few places to serve a Punjabi thali, Delhi Highway sure does a swell job. Their thali includes a welcome drink, some chaat, subzis, roti / naan, pulao / biryani, raita, dal and some desi sweets. Their food is very flavorful. Whether its their chaat or their paneer subzis, I’ve enjoyed them all. What adds to the experience here are their beautifully done interiors. You basically get a fine dining experience at an affordable price. Their thalis cost between Rs.499 – 650 + tax, depending on the day you visit them.

Watch my video experience of Delhi Highway here

Maharaja Bhog

thalis in Mumbai

If you want a  bit of Rajasthani and Gujarati food in your thali, then head over to the nearest Maharaja Bhog outlet. They have a good mix of both cuisines in their thalis. Their thali consists of chutneys, pickles, papad, welcome drink, farsan, a special dish of the day, dal / kadhi, rotis, rice, subzis, dessert and paan. It is a massive thali but if you want to indulge in some traditional food and want variety then this is the place. Their thali costs Rs.533 + tax on weekdays and Rs.581 + tax on weekends.

Watch my video experience of Maharaja Bhog here

So those were my absolute must try thalis in Mumbai. If you have tried these places already then I’d love to know your experience here. So make sure you tell me that in the comments below. And if these places are new to you then do try them and let me know how you like them. You can watch some more videos on my Youtube channel here:

Growel’s 101 Mall – Thoosday!

Growel’s 101 mall in Kandivali, Mumbai is easily one of the biggest and most fun malls in Mumbai.

While Growel’s 101 offers a wide variety of shopping and fun activities, they even have a very interesting and attractive food court. And it gets even better on a Tuesday when you can avail of a flat 40% off on selected food outlets.

Growels 101

Watch this video to know more about the Thoosday offer at Growel’s 101 mall.

Subscribe to my Youtube channel here

While you can find a ton of options to enjoy as part of the Thoosday offer at Growel’s 101, here are a few which I personally enjoyed.

Spring Rolls at Cafe Bollywood

Spring rolls stuffed with vegetables tossed in Schezwan Sauce – now this is something that anyone would love. These are priced at Rs.114 on Tuesdays as part of the offer.

Thali at Sanskriti

Want a full meal that includes roti, subzi, dal, chawal, sweetdish, lemonade and more? Then the Thali at Sanskriti is a good option. You can enjoy this for Rs.180 as part of Thoosday.

Pasta at Eatalia

A really cool Italian food outlet, Eatalia serves delicious pasta and the good thing is that it’s at 40% off on a Tuesday. Pick up the cheesy pasta or the Eatalia special for a price of Rs.163 each.

Alu Gobi Paratha at Only Parathas

These can be easily shared among 2 people as the sheer size of these parathas is quite good. You can even enjoy other food options in the Thoosday offer.

I absolutely loved my day at Growel’s 101 mall. There is so much to do, to shop and to eat. And you can make it even more worthwhile by checking out their Thoosday offer on Tuesdays.

I hope this post was helpful. Stay tuned for my next one.

Mumbai Street Food – Must Haves

Mumbai Street Food
I was born and brought up in Mumbai and here are my most favorite Mumbai Street Food picks.

Watch videos of Mumbai Street Food.

Mumbai is quite famous for its street food. Especially local items like Vada Pav and Pav Bhaji are extremely popular. The roadside sandwich too is quite a crowd puller. Here are my top picks for Mumbai Street Food.

Shree Krishna Batatawada

Mumbai Street Food

This place in Dadar serves the best Batatawada in the city. You get only wada and no pav. And this is best enjoyed with some mirchi on the side.

Raju Sandwich

Mumbai Street Food

This is in Churchgate close to H.R. & K.C. college and has a following of its own. Apart from the classic toast sandwich, they even make the weirdest Pizza and Panini.

Yummies

Mumbai Street Food

This place is located next to Rizvi College in Carter Road. And they are known for their Indianized Chinese food. Their schezwan sauce is so different and delicious.

Narayan Dosa

Mumbai Street Food

One of the best dosa places in the city – definitely try the Mysore Masala Dosa here. This place is located in Grant Road.

Bankelal Sharma Pav Bhaji at Chowpatty

Mumbai Street Food

Located in Girgaon Chowpatty Mumbai, this stall serves some really delicious Pav Bhaji. And super buttery as well.

Shree Krishna Gola at Chowpatty

Mumbai Street Food

You can’t go to Chowpatty and not eat gola! So this is a must have at Girgaon Chowpatty. Kalakhatta is a classic flavor but you can ask them to whip up some weird combination as well.

Sai Samarth Dosa Vile Parle

Mumbai Street Food

This is in the Vile Parle Khau Galli in Bajaj road and you should try the Jini Dosa here. Pretty interesting.

So those were few of my picks for Mumbai Street Food. If you want more street food options and places then leave that in the comments below and I’ll probably make a part 2 for this.

MADRAS DIARIES | Spicy South Indian Food

Madras Diaries
Madras Diaries recently opened in Bandra and offers some traditional South Indian delicacies and also some interesting specials.

Chilled out vibe and good food is how I describe my experience at Madras Diaries. Check out this video from my visit there.

Subscribe to my Youtube channel here

Here’s what I ate at Madras Diaries

Jalapeno Cheese Idlis

Madras Diaries

Fried mini idlis with bits of jalapeno. These were served with a cheesy dip. The idlis were fried to perfection – perfectly crunchy and the jalapeno bits did add a little edgy flavor.

Kara Paniyaram

Madras Diaries

Paniyarams tossed with onion, chillies and molga podi. So this was extremely spicy because there was tonnes of molga podi. But it was quite delicious.

Navadhanya Idli

Madras Diaries

Made with 9 different grains, these idlis honestly felt almost as soft as regular idlis. And they had a little tadka in the centre – curry leaves, mustard seeds, cumin seeds. This tasted quite amazing with the sambhar.

Puliyogare

Madras Diaries

Served with pickle and rice papad, this is one of the tastiest Puliyogare I’ve tried. Such a pronounced tamarind flavor. Absolutely must order this.

Mysore Masala Dosa

Madras Diaries

A huge, crispy dosa stuffed with potato and a spicy garlic chutney.

Masala Buttermilk

Madras Diaries

A spiced chaas – has a nice flavor from the mint and pepper in it.

Spiced Lemon with Basil Seed

Madras Diaries

A lemonade spiced with chillies – literally! This one is way too spicy.

Filter Coffee

Madras Diaries

This one didn’t really please me.

Madras Diaries

I quite enjoyed my visit to Madras Diaries. You can definitely visit for a non-udipi South Indian experience. Their food is pretty good. There were somethings which were a tad bit spicy for me, but overall I was quite happy with what I ate. One of the other things that looked interesting on their menu was the thali. I’ll definitely be trying that next time.

Sunday Brunch at The JW SAHAR Mumbai

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch
I’ve been to JW Sahar on multiple occasions; but this time was special as I was visiting them for their Sunday Brunch.

JW Sahar is known to have one of the best (and also the priciest) Sunday Brunches in the city. It starts at Rs.2700+ and the various pricing options include mocktails, alcohol and champagne respectively.

To give you a glimpse of the whole brunch buffet, I have this video. Do watch it and subscribe to my Youtube channel for more video content.

Subscribe to my Youtube channel here

Out of all the delicious food at the brunch, here are a few things that I tried and loved.

Chaat

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch

The brunch has an entire section dedicated to chaat and you will find so many different things – Palak Patta Chaat, Samosa, Dabeli, Ragda Pattice, Pani Puri, Dahi Papdi and lots more. If you love chaat then definitely indulge!

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch

Pasta

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch

Pick and choose your sauce and veggies or ask a special recommendation from the Chef – the Pasta at JW Sahar doesn’t disappoint. Since this brunch happened to be a Thanksgiving themed one, I got to try their Pumpkin Ravioli. The feel of butter in this was just out of this world. I also indulged in the classic Arrabiata and it was the perfect tangy flavor.

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch

Tex Mex

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch

I love my tex mex so I indulged in some nachos and also some Quesadilla.

Indian Main Course

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch

The one thing that stood out for me in the main course was their Dal Makhani. This was the first time I actually tried it and boy was it good! Creamy, flavorful and very comforting. I also tried the Chhole, Biryani and the Papad variety.

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch

If you saw the video, then you’d know that the brunch is massive. Apart from the food mentioned above, you also find a whole section dedicated to Cheese, greens and fresh salad, sushi and Japanese cuisine, Thai food, cold-cuts, sea food and lots more.

But the section that completely stole my heart was the Dessert.

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch

You can see the huge variety in this section right from the time you enter JW Cafe. And it’s honestly so beautifully arranged and presented that a part of you would definitely want to pick something up right away. Liqueur filled chocolate bars, cakes, pastries, Indian mithai variety – you will find all of this here! It’s such a massive spread. And it’s not just the quantity of dessert; it’s also the presentation. I mean I’ve seen some of the prettiest looking cupcakes here.

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch

Even the Waffle and Pancake station is such a hit. They are undoubtedly one of the best waffles you will find in the city. And you choose an array of toppings – sauces, fruits, sprinkles, brownies, fruit syrups and what not. Enjoy these plain or with some ice cream to finish off a super lavish meal.

JW Sahar Sunday Brunch

So that was it from my visit to the JW Sahar Sunday Brunch. Definitely visit and share your experience with me. And do keep extra room for dessert!
