Delhi Highway Thali – One of the best in Mumbai

Delhi Highway Thali
The Delhi Highway Thali is easily on of the best vegetarian thalis in Mumbai

I had a chance to try it, for the second time and of course I filmed it. You can watch the Delhi Highway Thali video here.

Subscribe to my Youtube channel here

Delhi Highway provides a massive Indian thali experience that includes Chaat and an expansive thali. This is unlimited and is honestly a feast for anyone wanting to try it. The one thing that I’d like to mention is the consistency they have maintained in quality. I filmed this place around 2 years ago, and then and now my experience has been spectacular. You can watch that video too!

The Delhi Highway thali begins with a welcome drink, followed by chaat. This is unlimited and that is what the good part is about this restaurant.

Delhi Highway Thali

The thali itself is huge – subzis, rotis, biryani, dessert. MASSIVE VARIETY!

Delhi Highway Thali

What works for me in this restaurant is how tasty the food is here. Variety is great, but it  means nothing if theres no taste. And for me this place wins that war very smoothly. And of course, who doesn’t love variety! This place fulfills that craving for a full North Indian meal very beautifully. I would definitely visit this place again to indulge in their food and the overall experience.

Chandigarh food, shopping and tourist places

Chandigarh Food
Exploring Chandigarh food, shopping places and a lot of other things to do in this post.

I tried a few famous Chandigarh food dhabas, shopped at local markets and basically spent a day around city beautiful! Watch everything in my video from Chandigarh.

Subscribe to my Youtube channel here

Here are all the places I visited on my first day in Chandigarh.

Sindhi Sweets

Chandigarh Food

Located in the sector 17 market, this place is famous for chaat and its delicious sabzis. I recommend trying the Dahi Golgappa and their special Meal – a set thali. Sindhi Sweets is a place popular among locals, so it is a little busy. But definitely come here and try out their food. You can even try out their sweet dish items which is what you’ll see as soon as you enter their store.

Sector 17 Market

Love cheap shopping? Then sector 17 market should be fun! It’s honestly not all cheap shopping – there are shops selling the prettiest phulkari dupattas, but you do need to bargain well for them. And so many street side vendors selling jewellery, bags, shoes, tshirts and so much more. You can even just grab a softy and chill here – the vibe in the evening is pretty cool.

Indian Coffee House

This is one of the oldest cafe chains in India. You’ll find an Indian Coffee House in so many Indian cities. No nonsense place serving coffee and snacks. Definitely try their cold coffee on a hot afternoon.

Zakir Hussain Rose Garden

Chandigarh Food

Such an instagrammable spot! Just about 10 minutes by rickshaw from Sector 17 is the Zakir Hussain Rose Garden, in sector 16. Come here for the pretty roses, in different colors and also for all the greenery.

Pal Dhaba

Chandigarh Food

A must visit when in Chandigarh! Pal Dhaba is a place famous for its non-veg food – butter chicken, mutton and more but you do get a good Paneer Butter Masala here. Definitely try if you are vegetarian. And their dal makhani is awesome!

Best Butter Paneer in Delhi – Vegetarian Indian Food

Butter Paneer
Butter Paneer – soft paneer cubes in a buttery, tangy gravy.

My love for Butter Paneer has just grown in the past few years. It’s a dish that I very comfortably order at many places; however, there are a few that serve it beautifully well.

These 2 restaurants in Delhi serve the best Butter paneer I’ve had! Watch this video to know more.

Subscribe to my Youtube channel here

butter paneer

I’ll talk about Gulati’s first. The paneer here is delicious – tasty gravy, soft paneer cubes. And I particularly feel that their rotis are really good too. Located in Pandara road in Delhi, Gulati’s is a restaurant specialising in Indian food. And is pretty well known among locals! They are known for their Butter Chicken, however being a vegetarian I can totally vouch for their food as well. They are pretty popular so they do get a lot of crowd, so my suggestion is that be prepared for a little bit of waiting.

Butter Paneer

Next is Moti Mahal. This is the original Moti Mahal in old Delhi. This is located in Daryaganj and is known as the birth place of Butter Chicken. Their butter chicken is very well known even today. So I thought of trying their butter paneer. Pretty tasty as well. Don’t expect too much of an ambience here; go here simply for the taste of it.

I would love to know more places for delicious Paneer dishes from you. So do leave that in the comments below.

MASSIVE thali experience in Pune

2018 was officially the year for the great Indian thali. And ones that were way too huge!

I gave in to finally try out this thali in Pune that I had heard so much of. Here is the Daler Mehndi Thali in Pune in Aaoji Khhaoji. It isn’t the biggest, but it is massive! Watch the whole experience in this video.

Subscribe to my Youtube channel here

Aaoji Khhaoji is famous for having some of the biggest thalis ever – their Bahubali thali and Kumbhakaran thali is pretty well known. However, I went in for the Daler Mehndi thali because it seemed to be more up my alley. This thali can be shared among 2 people and that is honestly the reason why I chose this particular one.

In terms of variety, this thali wins. If you want to try a lot of different items then its ok to try this. However, if you are someone who prefers quality over quantity then this isn’t the place for you. The food isn’t all that tasty; however a few items did stand out – like their subzi – especially Bhindi was awesome and they also served some authentic home style white butter which not many places do. So all in all, this is a place if you want to try a lot of different items in a single meal.

While in Pune, I explored a lot of other food joints as well and you can check out some of those videos below.

I would love to know about some of your favorite food places from Pune, so do leave that in the comments. And if you visited any of the places recommended by me then I’d love to know your experience as well.

Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant

Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant
Sapphire vegetarian restaurant is located in The Emerald hotel in Juhu.

You will find a wide variety of dishes across cuisines at Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant. This includes Mexican, Italian and even Greek food!

I recently visited this place and here is what I tried:

Manchow Soup

Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant

For me a good manchow soup is one that has the intense hot flavour from garlic and ginger. This one kind of lacked that. Also the fried noodles served with the soup had a slightly off taste – the kind that is when you have when the items are a little beyond their shelf life.

Veg Crispy

Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant

This is an extremely appetising Chinese starter. It’s fried vegetables coated with maida and sweet and spicy sauces. Again this lacked that zingy taste and honestly the vegetables weren’t crispy at all.

Hara Bhara Kebabs

Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant

These made up for everything! The Hara Bhara Kebabs at Sapphire are a must have.

Sugarcane Juice

Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant

They actually serve really good, fresh sugarcane juice. It’s got some ginger and lime which I love in a sugarcane juice. A welcome change from the over sweet fruit juices and artificial syrups that everyone serves.

Masala Papad

Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant

Nothing like deep fried, crunchy papad with tons of tomato and onion and chilli powder!

Veg Subz Biryani

Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant

Fried onion, carrots, peas, french beans, paneer and corn – all of these and the fragrant rice made for a pretty decent biryani. It’s served with some vegetable raita.

Gulab Jamun

Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant

These were indeed delicious. The perfect texture and taste.

If you visit Sapphire Vegetarian Restaurant, I’d recommend trying Indian versus Chinese food. I personally preferred it more. And definitely indulge in their Hara Bhara Kebabs. They are perfection!

I hope this review was helpful. Stay tuned for my next post.

Rajasthani Food Festival at Jamavar – The Leela Mumbai

Rajasthani food festival
If you love good food, then the Rajasthani Food Festival at Jamavar, The Leela Mumbai needs to be on your to-do list.

I recently had the opportunity of dining at The Leela Mumbai. This was my first brush with the brand in my own city and I was so happy that I got to experience a preview of their special Rajasthani Menu.

Here’s a little snippet from my visit.

Subscribe to my Youtube channel here

The Chef and the staff at Jamavar had prepared a complete meal; from starters to mains and finally dessert – everything was stellar.

There was a selection of pickles and chutneys. The bhindi with chura papad and the kairi and pyaaz kachumber (of sorts) stood out for me here.

Pickles

The Leela Mumbai

Then came the appetizers which were not only so beautifully plated, but also tasted divine.

Paneer Ke Sooley

Paneer ke sooley

A spicy marination on soft paneer chunks. This has a fiery flavor, but is delicious.

Ajmeri Kadhi Kachori

Chaat

I could definitely eat a plateful of this! The flavor of the chutneys and the crunch in the crust of this kachori totally did it for me.

Maawey aur Meewey Ki Seekh

Seekh

A seekh kebab, that was slightly on the sweeter side.

Arbi Akhrot Ki Tikki

Jamavar

A tikki made from walnuts and arbi; never knew it could be so delicious.

The main course was an equally exquisite spread

Paneer Mircha

paneer mircha

Panner, capsicum, onion in a spicy gravy. I highly recommend trying this out.

Govind Gatta Curry

Govind Gatta Curry

Big round dumplings or Gatta, is what is known as the Govind Gatta Curry. The gravy is delicious.

Sangri Ke Kofte

Rajasthani food

Very different tasting kofta. Enjoyed these with a selection of kulcha and roti.

Dal Baati Churma

Rajasthani Food Festival The Leela

For me, this was probably one of the best Dal Baatis I’ve had in a long time. The churma itself was so rich and while the baati was immersed in ghee, it was exceptionally tasty.

Aloo aur Chana Dal Ki Khichdi

Aloo and Chana Dal khichdi

A very simple, yet flavorful preparation of rice with chana dal and little potato pieces. The flavors of cinnamon and peppercorns in this took the dish to the next level.

I tried some pretty interesting dessert here as well.

Dessert at Jamavar

Matar Halwa

Halwa made from green peas. If you like the taste of raw green peas you may like this one.

Kesar Malai Kulfi

Probably the creamiest kulfi I’ve had in a long time. This was exceptional.

Malpua with Rabdi

Malpua topped with a thin layer of rabdi.

If you want to try out some delicious Rajasthani food in Mumbai, then make sure you check out this festival that is on until the 31st July at Jamavar, The Leela Mumbai. I absolutely recommend it.

Thank you so much for reading and stay tuned for my next post. XOXO!

Shakahari Marriott Pune

Shakahari Marriott Thali
Royal Indian Experience at Shakahari Marriott Pune

I was so excited to visit Shakahari Marriott Pune – a restaurant in JW, that serves specialty Indian Cuisine. They cater to food from different states of India, and have dedicated specials for each of these as well.

Shakahari Marriott Mithai

When I visited Shakahari, they had a North Indian and Rajasthani menu. I quite enjoy both the cuisines so I had a great time. You should check out this video, that shows you everything from my visit here.

Subscribe to my Youtube channel here

If you saw the video, you know the ‘Royal Indian Experience’ at Shakahari isn’t an understatement.

JW Marriott Pune is a very well done property. It’s boasts of a different vibe to each of it’s restaurant. And the fact that the property does have a lot of space is an added advantage. I took the steps to head up to the restaurant and I could see their staff, dressed up in Indian attire, ready to welcome us.

Shakahari Marriott Royal

The minute you walk into Shakahari, that same sense of space kind of comes back to you. Sometimes you walk in to a restaurant and all you see around is hustle and bustle. Dishes all around, meals being served, large families – this is a typical scene that I have encountered many-a-time. However, the way this place is designed, conceals that very well. Larger dining area, a wider kitchen, which is still partially visible to guests give this place a more elegant feel.

1496934217177

In the thali I had, there was a mix of Rajasthani and North Indian dishes. Starters included Dahi Wada, Rajma Salad, Palak Patta Chaat, Besan Chilla to name a few. I absolutely loved the Dahi Wada. Main course included Puris, Gatta Kadhi, Dal Baati Churma and many more items.

Shakahari Marriott Laddoo

And the dessert was a whole mishthan bhandar – a sweet shop! There was so much variety in the kind of barfis available to motichur laddoo, to Kulfi and lots more.

Shakahari Marriott Kulfi

And we finished the meal with some Paan.

Shakahari Marriott Paan

I would definitely recommend you to try out Shakahari and experience this Royal Indian Meal.

Shakahari Marriott Dessert

Lassi Te Parrontthe – The Best Aloo Paratha in Mumbai

Lassi Te Parrontthe
If you’ve been following me for a while, you would probably already know that my heart skips a beat everytime I think about Lassi Te Parrontthe. It’s one of my most favorite places to eat..like EVER!

Lassi Te Parrontthe

Lassi Te Parrontthe, for those of you who are new, is a a place at Carter Road in Mumbai. You get different varieties of Parathas here – ranging from aloo, to gobi, to methi to paneer and probably few more. The parathas are delicious, to say the least. And what I personally admire is the  dedication with which the owner Nikhil Thakur a.k.a. Parronttha Man from Carters makes these. Watch this video from my visit to Lassi Te Parrontthe and you will know what I’m talking about.

Subscribe to my YouTube here

I hope after watching the video you understand the level of parathas I’m talking about.

The stuffing in these parathas is literally spot on. I’ll tell you about my favorite one here – the aloo and it has a delicious flavor from masalas like dhaniya powder. And the parathas are also cooked to perfection. A lot of times while eating parathas outside I find that there is a spot either towards the extreme sides or where the stuffing is really heavy that feels kinda uncooked. But not with the ones I’ve had at Lassi Te Parrontthe.

Lassi Te Parrontthe

The parathas are served with Dahi that comes in a kulhad which seems pretty fresh and not at all sour. And some pickle too. You also get some chhaas and lassi here.

Lassi Te Parrontthe

When you visit Lassi Te Parrontthe, you will pretty much see the main Parronttha Man getting the parathas ready. And just watching him make them can be so cool.

Lassi Te Parrontthe

Highly recommend this place.

I hope you enjoyed watching and reading about my experience at Lassi Te Parrontthe. Let me know if you visit the place. Would love to know how you liked it.

I would love to stay in touch. So do hit me up on my social media.
